no, no, you guys have been bringing it these many pages of posts! Ultimately, this has been a great debate.
And hopefully, iluv will come to a BWW gathering so we can smack the crap out of him a little before buying him a drink and trying to molest him as is known to occur at BWW gatherings.

Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf as a musical? Funny. It's interesting that an american who lives in Chicago haven't got a slidest idea about the play and a Hungarian gilr has (me). I could scream, really.
And I guess everyone should kisses he/she likes but just in the solid and gentle way. I mean I don't like that either if a male actor kisses his wife in a hard way in front of the cameras. (Angelina Jolie and B. Bob Thornton).
JRB - yeah, tug at your ear or do the chicken dance or something so we know it's you, lol
Midwest, that stuff about the radio show...damn, that pisses me off. Grrr. That's all I can say. ....they were really DISCUSSING that they feel weird watching the Wolverine movies cause Hugh Jackman gets a little too into hosting the Tony awards? Damn, some people be ignorant. Seriously, how do people like that remember to breathe in and out on a regular basis?

Smack me around and then molest me?
That really makes BWW gatherings seem appealing. (Note: Do I smell sarcasm?)
No sarcasm. Only punishment and then penance

Eventually, in time, perhaps iluv will not only develop a more secure sense of his place in the world, but a sense of humor as well.
Iluv,
We were all your age, so please (speaking for myself) please dont take what I say but from a place of understanding....just trying to help you see what others heard in your comments.
(feeling guilty...GEEZ!)

I was fine with the discussion until I got PMs stating I was a homophobe and a self-hating gay. And then later was called selfish for not wanting to jump right into all the movements.
Also, DGrant, I was joking about the smacking and molesting. Perhaps I'm not the only one who needs a sense of humor?

iluv - that's cool if you were joking - it just wasn't apparent to me. Sorry.

You didn't say YOU didn't want to jump into the movements.
That would have been a lovely sentiment and utterly respected, admired even.
You said it bothered you when OTHER people jumped into the movements. You "hate" politics at awards shows.
:)
anything Iluv says just pisses me off, so I am going to bow out of this one......rather than say what I really want to.....cause honey, you just ain't worth me getting riled up over
and Iluv, when you do "find the strength", I hope it's not too late.......
it will be interesting how the rest of the world/media responds to Maureen and Joanne in Rent
Well I think there has been some sort of acceptance (I don't know if you would call it that) of a "hot lesbian couple" amongst the average American teenager (or certainly in movies and TV shows). I would be more interested to see their reaction to Collins and Angel's relationship.
What I am even more interested is to see middle americans reaction to Collins being a black gay male. I have heard so much about black men who are on the downlow about their sexual orientation, I am just curious if any of this will be brought up when the movie comes out.
Is it just that people are born close minded? I've never really had a problem with gay or hetero relationships. I mean, somethings may be raunchy and that sort of disturbs me, but I think I was just raised a pretty open-minded person. And I might add that I lived a pretty sheltered life (even went to a Christian private school until 7th grade), and when I was first exposed to same-sex relationships, I had no problem at all. We can't really attack people for the way they think. Granted, they can be changed, but it will take some time. If people did not disagree with most of today's issues, we wouldn't have the marvelous efforts that people give in order to change the views of some of these people.

We've come along way, but have so much more to go...it feels great to have so much acceptance, and too easy to forget/ignore how little freedom we still have.
I just saw the Rent trailer and got a tear that they included a kiss between Joanne and Maureen and Angel and Collins...beautiful!
It is great to look over our shoulders and see how far we've come, but there is so much work to do...
Golly, I'm sounding pretty old

Some people are just more susceptible to these teachings than others.
