Gentleman's Guide Rush

Hi everyone,

Just curious since opening if anyone has rushed A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder? If so, how early would you recommend getting there (I plan to do it this saturday during the end of thanksgiving weekend) and where are the rush seats? Thanks for the help! :)

I rushed the sunday the week before it opened, so I don't know if it's gotten any busier, but there were only 7 people in line total when the box office opened, and I was easily able to get 2 tickets. I went back an hour after the box office opened with another friend who had decided to join us and tickets were still available.

The seats for those of us in line early on were all front of the orchestra, first and second row on the sides. My friend who got a ticket later was given a rear mezz seat.

I rushed on Tuesday, November 26, arrived at the box office at 2:30 in the afternoon, and managed to get Right Orchestra First Row seats! Despite the ease of getting rush tickets, the show was very well sold!

I can't recommend this highly enough; a phenomenal, fun night of musical theater!

I am hoping to try rush for the matinee tomorrow. How are the sight lines from the seats? I see that they seem to differ depending on the show. Looking forward to the show!

I had second row orchestra right and you do miss parts of the show. But I thoroughly enjoyed it a lot and it is definitely worth seeing! Hope you enjoy! :)

I just wanted to share that I got to the box office around 11:45 this morning and was able to get Row D, house left for the matinee. I don't feel as if I missed anything (nothing important, anyway), but what a fun show! Reminded me of Drood, and I had a smile on my face the whole time. Highly recommended! :)

I rushed yesterday as well. I walked right up to the box office just after 10 and had no problem getting seats in row E for the evening. They seem to have taken out the first two rows of the theatre, so this was actually the 3rd row. There were a number of empty seats in the rows behind me that I assume were also in the rush block but never sold.

I thought it was a really fun show and would recommend it!

I rushed on a weekday 2 hours before curtain and got a ticket, no problem. Last row of the orch, and the view was surprisingly perfect. The mezzanine doesn't even interfere with the view. It's also probably a better seat than the side view orch they give away in the mornings.

I rushed 2 Saturdays ago, got there a bit before 10am and they were gone. Definitely a weekday will be easier and weekends will be harder as excellent word-of-mouth continues to spread.

Any updates on the difficulty of rush lately? From the Rush Report it looks like weekends are getting more difficult, but I'm wondering if anyone has any first-hand experience from the past few weeks. Dying to see this again...

I rushed on a Saturday night two weeks ago and had no problem getting a ticket at 6:45pm. It was the last row of the orchestra house left a few seats in from the center aisle. There were at least 6 empty seats to my left that I presume would have been sold as rush had there been demand. The view from there was great.

Thanks for the update, frogs_fan85, it helped me decide to skip the early morning commute to get on the line and go leisurely in the afternoon.

On Saturday, I was able to get Orchestra Row S seats at 4:00 in the afternoon for the evening show; it sounds like I was in the same exact spot as you were, but the entire row was full.

I have a question about the rush policy. I would like to bring my mother to see this with me, however, she is not under 35 years old. I understand that one person can buy two rush tickets, so does that mean I can buy a rush ticket for my mom as well? I am planning on rushing for myself and buying a ticket from TKTS for her, but if I can buy her a rush ticket I'd prefer to do it that way. This whole two rush tickets thing always confuses me - if a student can buy 2 tickets, does the other person going to see the show with the student need to be a student too? If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be most appreciated!

Hanabana - Yes! You can buy a rush seat for your mother as well. She doesn't need to be under 35 :)

When I went they were sold out of rush. I told them I would run to see if I could get something at TKTS and they sold me a last minute ticket at 75% off on the spot instead.

The box office people at the Kerr are very accommodating,.

I'll be in NY for a week in April, but since I'll be tour guide for my family, I'll have limited time for shows. I'm seeing If/Then (which I already saw in DC), Bridges and All The Way. I can squeeze in another show. Considering I don't think I'll manage to get tickets to Violet or Hedwig, would you suggest Bullets Over Broadway or A Gentleman's Guide?

Why wouldn't you be able to get Violet or Hedwig? Violet seems to have tickets available for most shows, plus Roundabout has a lot of subscribers, so there are often cancellations closer to the date. Hedwig has opened up a lot of side orchestra for some of the initial shows, too. Gentleman's is a great show, I'm just not sure about your premise regarding those other shows.

I got to the box office at 12:05 the Sunday before the Tony noms and had no problem getting a ticket.

I haven't done it since the Tony nominations came out, but I got there at 9:50 on a Saturday and there were maybe 8 people in front of me, so no problem. And there's never a terribly long line outside the theatre in the morning, so I can't imagine it's too bad.

Last week was a bad barometer anyway because the weather was so bad, but the Broadway Spotted Rush Report says there were 46 people in line by 9:35am this past weekend (does that mean the average of Saturday and Sunday?), so I do think it's getting busier.
