Getting Hamilton tix thru Ticketmaster Resale

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be visiting NYC in a few weeks and am debating getting a ticket to Hamilton. I'm visiting from California and don't know when I'll be able to go back to NYC, and since Hamilton seems like it's sold out for a good while, I might as well see it. I've used Stubhub in the past and have had no problems, but I think in this case Ticketmaster Resale would be a safer option. Has anyone used Ticketmaster Resale in the past for Hamilton? Did everything turn out ok? I'd love to get a few opinions, as I'm getting some major anxiety over this!!!! Haha

I'd use Ticketmaster resale. Sometimes StubHub doesn't list the seat location. (Unless they changed it recently.) Seat location is optional for them. I have bought and sold tickets on Ticketmaster resale with no problem. If there is a problem with a ticket, Stubhub will make you whole, but they might not be able to get you a ticket for that specific performance. With Ticketmaster, you know that your ticket is legit.

Ticketmaster Resale is safer than stubhub. Multiple people have found ways to scam StubHub by selling duplicate tickets. Don't do StubHub.

Stubhub is "safe" in the sense that if you're defrauded you get your money back but not safe if you want to be sure you actually see the show. Yes, most sales are legit but scammers do use it. Ticketmaster resale is safe.

It's smart of Ticketmaster to seek to control the process and make it risk-free for buyers and sellers. The fees the company is collecting are astronomical. But I guess people feel it's worth paying for the convenience and the security that no other entity can provide for resales.

And then I felt really secure when, after checking out on StubHub, they disappeared from the Ticketmaster map.

But I’d heard rumors of StubHub frauds, so I went to the box office early and asked if there was any way they could verify my tickets before the performance. They couldn’t, but he assured me, after I described how I’d purchased them, that they were very likely legit. He also said that they see fraud duplicates occasionally and that many of those come from StubHub.

It's probably bc TM has higher fees so even if seller lists for same price, the TM price is higher. I see a lot of cross posts on TM/SH which is "comforting" but I wonder what would happen if the seller wasn't on the ball and didn't remove other listing ASAP.

Nothing, since people who do that have Ticketmaster sell them immediately (the only option) and tell StubHub they will provide the tickets after the sale, at which point, they could cancel the order if the tickets were no longer available.

I don't think that's how SH works even if you haven't uploaded tix bc I had Hamilton tix listed in August then found out I could actually go. I kid you not, at the same time I was cancelling listing, someone bought them. SH said if I didn't complete sale. I'd lose 20% of my earnings plus have to pay any price difference for finding the buyer similar seats. My sale was 1k so I'd lose $200 ASAP and if similar tix were $1500, I'd be out another $500. It's the policy whether uploaded or not. You have 24 hrs to upload after sale unless the date is close to the event.

It all worked out bc I used my profit to get better seats.

The seller was probably on the ball and deleted ASAP. You definitely don't want to get jammed up with penalties. I don't think that the two businesses work together since they are competing but I know they have some deal with MLB teams. So if you buy MLB from SH, they are legit bc for most teams, SH is the verified resale outlet and the tickets are sold similar to TM ie recoded

Singles do come up occasionally, but lately they have been well over $300+ even within the last hour. Best bet is lotto or wait for the next block to open up. Good luck! I'm in the same boat.
