Real name: Jack
Gender: Male
Age-ish: 24.
Place of origin: Was born and spent early years in a stately home in Harting, Hampshire... FACT. Far from nobility though; my mum was the family's nanny and we had a little flat in the roof.
Current location: A peculiar little shop conversion in Haslemere, Surrey. Nice big windows, rats in the rubbish and a crazy old lady living upstairs who often plays the cello at 5am. Sometimes outside, the silly bitch.
Theatrical medium of choice: Musicals. I do enjoy a play but I like to have entertainment just happen to me. I'll go to a play if I'm in the mood for a bit of thinking.
Favourite plays: 'The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby', David Edgar; That Face', Polly Stenham; 'The Scarlet Letter', Phyllis Nagy; 'The Father', August Strindberg; 'The Master and Margarita', Edward Kemp; 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf', Edward Albee; 'Making Noise Quietly', Robert Holman.
Favourite playwrights: Robert Holman, Edward Kemp
Favourite musicals: Desperately Seeking Susan (forever in my heart), Wicked, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Stiles & Drewe's Just So, Evita and a ****load of Gilbert & Sullivan.
Favourite composers: Frank Loesser, Stiles & Drewe, G&S, ALW (of course)
Favourite "other" (medium): I must say, I do enjoy a ballet. Not Sleeping Beauty though... every production I've seen, I'm like, "Where's the dancing? This is bloody mime!"
Favourite performers (male): Philip Quast, Michael Ball, Joe McFadden (although now seeing him in Heartbeat, he can't act for ****. Amazing on stage though), Steve Elias, Sam West.
Favourite performers (female): Liza Pulman, Elena Roger, Kerry Ellis, Alexia Khadime (wonderful), Louise Gold, Nicola Sloane.
Favourite directors: Martin Duncan. What that man can't do with a musical is nobody's business.
Favourite "other" (person): Stevie Nicks, Les McKeown, Marc Almond, Julia Davis.
First West End show: Oliver! at the Palladium. I spent most of the evening trying to pick the binoculars out of the holders without putting money in. The only thing I really remember from the production is Oliver running on the spot while the street moved behind him.
Most recent West End show: Zorro
First Broadway show: I've not been yet.
Most recent Broadway show: Yet been not I've.
First cast recording: God knows. Les Mis probably.
Favourite cast recording: 'Hair' OBCR
Currently mostly listening to: I just can't get enough of the Wicked Stuttgart CR. I don't understand a word and the production is piss-poor, but their 'What is This Feeling' ****s on the OBCR and Willemijn Verkaik's 'No Good Deed' is orgasmic.
Favourite TV shows: Nighty Night, Kath & Kim, Big Girls Blouse and of course, BB. I hate Mikey and hope someone shoots him dead when he exits. Darnell Sara or Rex to win! I never say no to a bit of Keeping Up Appearances or Allo Allo of a weekend either. I love the Brady Bunch too. The weekend I got my season 4 in the post, I watched it for eight hours straight, getting up only to get glasses of water and then to piss them out.
Favourite films: I'm a sucker for those brainless kids' films with huge, sweeping scores that were all the rage in the early 90's. You know the ones I mean... Beethoven, Mighty Ducks (D2 more specifically), Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Baby's Day Out, Rent-A-Kid. The list goes on.
Favourite music: I Haunt Wizards, Ponytail, Haunts, Soft Cell, Heloise & the Savoir Faire, Smashing Pumpkins, Datsuns, Patrick Wolf and many more. I'm also a recently outed Abba obsessive (I had to take out contents insurance just because of my Abba collection) and I really, seriously, not-even-ironically love the Bay City Rollers. Honestly, check out their stuff from 1977 onwards... dynamite! Not Strangers In The Wind though... McKeown's heart just wasn't in it. The Duncan Faure stuff is amazing.
Favourite books: I can't get enough of Boris Akunin's Erast Fandorin mysteries. It's like James Bond/Jackie Chan but in 19th century Russia! I never say no to a bit of Narnia either. I once read The Last Battle in one sitting in the bath. I wasn't dirty when I got in but when I got out of the grey, lukewarm cesspool, I felt disgusting.
Favourite things not already covered: My dog (she's the most gorgeous thing in the world... check her out at myspace.com/littlebabypoppy), painting, cooking (well, more concocting. I couldn't follow a recipe if my life depended on it), ISKON and the works of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, taking things from skips and using them to make my flat look amazing, charity shops, doing touristy things with my buds (I do NOT recommend London Zoo... bloody expensive, the tiger was asleep, the zebras were shut away and you can see the giraffes for free anyway).
If you were an animal (or had a daemon/Patronus/insert other "animal from popular children's fantasy series here), what would it be: An owl. I'd like to fly and to try and do that head turning thing.
Daddy or chips: Chips all the way. My dad does my head in.
Tell us the keywords to lead us to an entertaining video on the ebuTuoY (or not, if you don't understand the question): bluffers opening. NOBODY seems to remember that cartoon except me!! Until it turned up on ebuTuoY, I thought I'd made it up.
What are you drinking: Water. I drank virtually nothing but Dr Pepper all weekend and now my skin is really paying for it.
Ever trod the boards yourself: Yeah, in a fringe production of Patience. It was one of the funniest experiences of my life. About four people showed up.
If you could travel back in time to see ONE show, what would it be: I'd keep going back to see Desperately Seeking Susan and Drowsy and I'd love to have seen Hair.
That was fun!!
