Posted: 10/4/11 at 4:53pmThere are discount codes, but no rush has been announced. When I bought my tickets for the first preview, the box office guy said that they haven't been told but he thinks it will most likely be a lotto.

Where is the $59 code? I only see $79.50 and $89.50 (for Saturday evenings).

Posted: 10/17/11 at 3:39pmConsidering there will be a lot of spill over from the WICKED lottery, I would think this would be a somewhat difficult lotto to win - at least that's how it was for the first preview.

This is a very hard lotto to win because of the Wicked lotto losers. I won for the Sunday night performance when Wicked doesn't have a show (they still got a lot of people to sign up because the lotto started as Wicked was letting out). By the way, the lotto is run with raffle tickets instead of the usual slips of paper. Names aren't taken down (well, you do type your name into an iPad for e-mail subscriptions). In true raffle style, winners are called by ticket stub number. 28 tickets are available, seven in each "pit" section. Lotto loser tickets are also offered. No standing room, at least not during previews. I would imagine they will not offer standing room ever because all aisles in the theatre are used for exits and entrances.
Also, if you win, I recommend you get there closer to when the house opens rather than closer to showtime because then you will have first dibs on where/how to sit amongst the pillows and seat cushions. Tickets correspond to a specific section of the theatre but not specific "seat" if that makes sense. I would say each section gets the same amount of audience participation, so no one is neglected.

Are you not allowed to enter the lotto if you don't sign up for the mailing list?

When I did lotto Sunday night they lotted off the stage lotto loser tickets for $59.50
I think she had 11 for that price but I think they ended up not lottoing them because not too many people stayed after the 30's were gone

Posted: 11/9/11 at 2:42pmThey only have been offering standing room if the show is sold out, which happened frequently last week due to press night and other reasons. I did see last Monday night as I was leaving, that they put up standing room numbers on the railing, which were not up when I did standing room last Thursday so maybe they will be doing it more frequently. I will report back after tonight when I go see it again.

I don't think that you have to enter their mailing list to enter the Godspell lotto/raffle. It is not uncommon in most lottos, to have a space to enter in your email address should you wish to enter their mailing list. I just think that considering that Godspell talks about modern technology/current events, the powers that be at Godspell thought that that would be a unique tie in to having people enter their mailing list.
I get that this is a raffle and not your typical ticket lotto. However, why is it that the language on the show's website treat it like it is your typical lotto. It talks about bringing the usual cash and ID. Now, I can understand them saying that if it is the typical process of putting your name in a bucket and you needing your ID to match the name on the card. But, how would they check IDs if they are calling out raffle numbers rather than people's names?

It is a typical ticket lottery, only with numbered raffle tickets instead of slips of paper. They do the same thing at Hugh Jackman's show. I can think of two reasons off the top of my head for this: 1) you don't have to worry about reading someone's illegible handwriting, and 2) all the tickets are uniform, so there are no accusations of intentionally choosing the pieces folded in a specific or interesting way, thus ensuring that it truly is random. You can also buy one roll of hundreds of raffle tickets for about $5, whereas those slips of paper require a whole sheet of printer paper for only 4 slips. Ink and paper add up.
It makes sense to me.
And yes, I'm sure the mailing list sign-up is just a tie-in, not a requirement to enter.
