Going into a show at Act 2

I think it's printed on a lot of tickets as well as ticket websites that they don't allow late entry for act 2. I can't think of a time where I've ever heard of that happening/being allowed. I think if you already have a ticket, they might allow you to post date, but if you're just trying to see the second act of a show, I wouldn't count on it. Especially if it's sold out or a popular show. Do you have a specific example in mind?

Honestly unless it's a show like HPCC where you can actually choose to see the whole show or just part of it, tickets are standard for the full performance. You wouldn't save any money. You'd have to see the whole show. I can't think of any example where they'd allow late entry for just part of a show, and especially if you're just trying to pay for act II. I don't think that type of option exists.

If they started to allow this and a lot of people took advantage then you would have the problem of where to put people. Especially if it is close to or a full house. There are fire code rules that have to be followed so you can't just stand somewhere and watch. If they started you then staff would have to keep track of empty seats. Also there are people with tickets who periodically arrive at intermission. So you saving money may cause more work for the staff.

At most shows i go to, at intermission if people step outside, there is staff and sometimes security at the door telling you to have your ticket with you to get back in. At "How to Succeed..." I stepped outside at intermission and forgot my ticket. They would not let me back in. Luckily tbe friends I was with was passing through the lobby to go back to our seats and I had him go get my Playbill with my ticket in it and the door person checked both of our tickets before i was allowed back in.

Sometimes you can get tickets cheap on the secondary market (like stubhub) right before a show starts when there is not really time to get there by the curtain.

Yes definitely! Always keeping an eye out for deals! And yea I rarely buy tickets for in advance, everything I've seen has been from rush/SRO/lottery pretty much. Always looking at stubhub too like dolson mentioned, but so far haven't found any killer deals, especially after $20 in fees that get tacked on. But thanks everyone for the advice and answers!
