What's eligible? Wo'll win? Michael Musto (Queerty), Brian Lipton (Cititour) and Gold Derby's Sam Eckmann and Tom O'Neil reveal the real Broadway drama and cliffhangers that are looming over the Tony Awards so disastrously due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
I agree about Adrienne Warren being the only shoe-in... thoughts on the rest?

A lot of the commentary felt very out of touch, but then again it IS a bunch of older white men (and one younger white man) commenting on theatre. Very "old guard". Some pretty spot-on predictions though.

Rooting for any underdogs to get a Tony nomination?
Sam Eckmann of GoldDerby.com says his picks are these:
* Ryan Knowles (''The Lightning Thief'' ) for Featured Actor in a Musical
* Ato Blankson-Wood (''Slave Play'' ) for Featured Actor in a Play
* Cora Vander Broek (''Linda Vista'' ) for Featured Actress in a Play
Eckmann also says Aaron Tveit (''Moulin Rouge!'' ) and Chris McCarrell (''The Lightning Thief'' ) are deserving of getting Leading Actor nominations.

According to these guys, A Christmas Carol was ineligible for Best Score. Guess they were wrong.

I do have to wonder HOW it was eligible considering the sheer amount of previously existing music in the show. Obviously it was newly orchestrated...but I cant believe over 50% was new music

It's a little bit different with a play. Almost the entirety of the show was underscored by music that was original. While many of the sung songs were pre-existing, there's a whole instrumental score that people forget. Notice that he's not nominated as "Music and Lyrics by..." but "Music by..."
