Minner driver says: I only sang one song in the film as i am not a trained opera singer.
Why don't they use a trained opera singer for the role?
And how old is Mick Jagger? Drugs really age someone.
He looks terrible!

Posted: 1/16/05 at 9:16pmFor Phantom, they could have gone with a classically trained singer, but it would have been really hard to find one who could act well, too. I thought Minnie Driver was hilarious, and I can forgive her for being dubbed. Besides, her lip-sync was better and more believable than most of the actors who had actually sung for the movie!

she sang Learn to be Lonely. It's the song they play over the credits at the end of the film.
Is it Learn to be Lonely or LearnING to be Lonely?

Posted: 1/16/05 at 11:21pmYes. That was the song nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. For obvious reasons, it was the only song from the film that was eligible for the category.

Phantom lost in all three categories it was nominated in.
I had a good feeling that it wouldn't win Best Actress or Best Picture (Musical/Comedy), but I was severely disappointed when it lost for Best Original Song.

Annette Benning, for "Being Julia"
I don't think it was more for bad reviews that it lost. "Sideways" is the critics' darling at the moment, for one thing. Also, Emmy is a newcomer, but I assume that she was nominated in that category was for a reason- not just to fill out a musical space.

I was really rooting for Josh Groban - Believe, and I really thought he was going to win... And about Minnie Driver, who really knows why they used her. I think she looked very pissed after she said the whole comment about her "not being a trained opera singer".
And I didn't expect POTO to win anything, and I'm glad for the people who won. But I wanted Ray to win for Musical/Comedy. And I was hoping for Johnny in "Finding Neverland" ... then it would be better when Leo* [or Jamie] won for "Aviator" at the Oscars.
Annette Bening of the showbiz comedy "Being Julia" won for comedy/musical... but I was really rooting for KATE WINSLET

Posted: 1/17/05 at 12:13amKate Winslet wasnt nominated for Finding Neverland. She was nominated for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. as for Phantom, it's not surprise it didnt' win anything. not saying im not upset. just it wasn't a shocker. the only thing that lightened up my spirits was when natalie portman won. i though, emmy has a better chance now.

Posted: 1/17/05 at 12:18amwell lets go over the OBVIOUS choices: Annette Benning, Vera Drake (sry, forgot her name), and HIlary Swank. You got a good chance for Kate Winslet for SOMETHING leaving an empty slot. Emmy could easily fill it. She has a chance. dont know how good it is but she definately has a chance.
