Well, this wasn't on Broadway, but it's still a cool story anyhow.
I got to go backstage and onstage between shows of Les Mis in London a few years ago. We got to inspect the whole set and wander around backstage while a lot of the actors were there (between matinee and evening performances). We also were offered tickets to that night's show.
I was a part of a class on West End Theater (a completely random thing for me to be studying, given my education... it was my "fun" class in London), and the professor knew the stage manager of Les Mis.

It wasnt on broadway, but I got to go backstage in london last year during mama mia. It as the most amazing thing ever. The cast was so awesome and full of advice. It was just so sweet. The costuming and stage and everything was just awesome. IT was just so sweet to get to be back there and see how everything works from a visual point of view instead of just hearing people talk about it lol. Definitely one of the best experiences Ive had in a while :).
Wicked - was invited by someone working on the show.
The Boy from Oz - Attended a reading that Isabel Keating took part in and we got to talking and she said she would tell the guy at the door my name. I was nearby a couple days later so I stopped by, went backstage and was introduced to Hugh Jackman who then introduced me to Rachel Griffiths, who just happened to be backstage that night to visit.

I've been backstage at Miss Saigon, Rent, 1776, A Streetcar Named Desire, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Saturday Night Fever, and that's all I can think of for now..
Backstage of DRS courtesy of Mr. Jbara. Great experience but honestly it was the very thoughtful tour from Greg that made it special, not the actual stage area. Though it was rather awesome to see how everything works.
Yes, with:
Traci Jai Edwards : Hairspray
Patti Lupone: Matters of the Heart, Cincinnati, OH
Patti Lupone: Noises Off! B-way
Patti Lupone: Anything Goes B-way
Joe Machota: Mamma Mia B-way
wicked, hairspray, phantom, lennon, and any show that has toured and gone through central florida within the past two years haha
I agree with you completely, Ryan. Greg goes to such pains with those personally guided tours - he makes you feel like you're the personality and he's there to see you!

That's all I got.
During his last few months with Phantom, a friend and I visited Hugh Panaro backstage at the Majestic a few times.
On one occasion, we took a sort of unofficial tour of the stage while we waited for him to finish talking to a group of visitors from Philly.

Wow, this is an old topic.
Thoroughly Modern Millie, Les Miserables, RENT, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Fiddler on the Roof.
The first two were through a friend of mine, RENT & Chitty were friends & luck, and Fiddler was through winning a contest through Rosie O'Donnell. A-woo-hoo!
And for the record, I'm probably the only person in history who has no desire to go backstage at Wicked. Heh.

I was backstage once, and it was an amazing experience... words cannot describe what it was like to be standing on a Broadway stage, but unless there's a special circumstance, I doubt I'll go again.
One thing I definitely will never do... go backstage during a performance that I am not at all involved with. I think it's disrespectful, honestly. The cast and crew has worked and is working very hard to put this show on, and all you're doing is sitting around being in the way.
The Producers -(VERY cool) and Hairspray (6x). Every time is a thrill--my heart pounds just thinking about it.
