I thought he was a horrid Fiyero. And I was disgusted at the changed harmonies. But I'm also VERY opinionated.
Anyway, I don't think his singing voice is strong enough (one of the many reasons I didn't like him as Fiyero...opposite Idina? Come on!). But if he can dance, give him a part where he doesn't have to sing...or at least with/against a really powerful singer.

I agree with the Link Larkin thing if he's not too old - or even Corny would work, whoever posted that. What about one of the guys in Fiddler? (that's closing soon though, isn't it?)
Could he do Lennon? I don't know much about it, but we know he's got the whole 'mainstream music' thing goin' for him...ummmmm tryin' to think of what other roles...
He's my boy now, lol. I do not dig the stunt casting thing like what they did with him in Wicked but since he did Dancin' With The Stars...I've developed this weird protectiveness of him, lol, cause he's done Broadway and musicals and stuff, he's become my boy. So pissed that he was eliminated before Kelly..grr...anyways, yeah, he could also play the guy in Mamma Mia I think.
Other possibilities (though very slight - and these I'm just throwin' out there, I don't even know if I agree with em' but...just to see what y'all think...) are MAYBE Fabrizio in Piazza (I could kinda see this, dunno how it'd sound...)...or what about Freddy in Scoundrels? It'd be interesting...again, not sure how I feel about those last two for sure...

Posted: 7/1/05 at 9:43ami actually think he could take on freddy for the national tour. hey, he was really great in tick, tick... boom! and from everything i've heard he was a very decent fiyero (though it is a thankless role)

Haha, wickedgeek.
Joey Mac .. ah, love. We need him back in NKOTB. Ha, NOT.
I know this has nothing to do with Joey, but I was just thinking about how I was watching Marci X last night, just to see Sherie, and found Matthew Morrison. That was a nice surprise.
Sky in Mamma Mia! could work. It's not that big of a part though. Kind of pointless, except he's marrying Sophie.
heart.

Almost Famous - I JUST discovered that this movie (Marci X) existed like, an hour ago and am leaving momentarily to try to hunt it down for rental or purchase - soooo many great braodway names in it (inlcuding my boy matt morrison and a guy from an area high school same time as me who I sorta did a show with, Michael Seelbach)
It'd be sweet if any of hte roles people are suggesting Joey Mac actually did do, I'd feel pretty sweet...

He was a pretty damn bad Fiyero the night I saw him.
And if the high notes had to be changed for him in Wicked, they'd probably have to change them in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels too (at least in "Dirty Rotten Number" and maybe "Love is My Legs").

Posted: 7/8/05 at 3:59pmIf there is a role that requires NO acting, very easy singing, and a good amount of dancing...then maybe Joey can come back to Broadway. Otherwise...he can stay away. There are others who can do better.

Hehe. Oh come on, like it wouldn't be funny to read all the "STUNT CASTING" posts, and see the little girls camped out for Joey....Ha. I was a hard-core NKOTB fan, and still have some love for Joey, but he might not be up to the demands of Pal Joey.
I like the Corny in Hairspray idea.

Posted: 7/8/05 at 7:14pma very biased opinion of Joey Mac- I saw him in Wicked the night of January 8th. That day Idina had fallen and hurt her ribs for those of you who don't know (which made me mad enough to be going on with,) but i talked to some people that night who said that Joey had been sort of the mediator in the catastrophe and had calmed the audience and the cast down. Apparently JLT was hysterical and Shoshana couldnt hold herself together to do the three minutes of the show afterward. It seemed to me like he tried a bit hard to be cool, rather than it coming naturally to fiyero (or maybe was trying to emulate norb a bit), and in ALAYM the high notes seemed to hurt him very bad (when he sang "for us as a pair" his arteries bulged and his eyes rolled back in his head ( i was in the second row). Other than that i thought he was very good. I felt like rather than liking him as fiyero, i liked him as an actor. he has very good stage presence and reacts well to the audience. THAT BEING SAID: i think that link is a very vanilla part and Joey could do much better. I would give him Robert/bobby from company (at risk of being attacked by those company fanatics.) He could capture the lonliness and dare i say torment that robert goes through and would be very good juggling friendships like that. Plus he could hold audiences attention in songs like marry me a little and being alive, where the message is crucial to the show, but the musical aspect takes over and drags one-line emotions over four minutes.

I think Joey has great stage presence. I just want him to find a part that's right for his voice and works for him.
BTW - Did anyone see him in tick,tick...BOOM? How was he?
