Goodbye to Cinderella

Today are the final two performances of Cinderella, so I just wanted to say goodbye to what I thought was a very sweet and charming show. It will likely have served as the Broadway introduction to thousands and thousands of kids, hopefully setting the stage for them to see many more.

I've heard that the show has absolutely been doing incredibly well at the box office this week, and has been selling out almost every performance. It did about $1.6 million last week for seven shows, and it wouldn't shock me if it gets close to $2 million this week, which is a nine show week. Good for them.

Maybe they should stage it every holiday season. :)

Goodbye! This show provided a really surprisingly great night for my mom and I. We saw it a week before they announced that the original cast who opened the revival would be leaving. All of the shows I wanted to see were sold out on TKTS and this was the only one left, and I'm SO happy that I got to see it!

I saw it in previews, kind of on a whim, and I really loved it more than I thought. The OBC was so magical. I didn't see the show again on Broadway but I did catch the National Tour in Tampa and I was glad to see the show still having that affect on people. Sad to see it go.

I'm glad that the show is going out on a high note. I saw this back in August 2013 with the original cast and found the show to be a truly magical night at the theatre even though the book was very problematic at times.

This was one of my favorite shows I've seen on Broadway and I am so glad that I caught it. Congrats to a wonderful retelling of one of the most famous fairytales!

Unfortunately I never got to see the show. But it had a comfortable run and survived some tough times, with the help of some stunt casting that turned out to be great (both at the box office and in performance, it seems). Best of all, it produced a beautiful cast album that should have won the Grammy.

I loved this show. I saw it a week before the original cast left. I was supposed to see Pippin with friends that day but it was sold out, so I (luckily) got a rush ticket for this. It was beautiful and I had a fantastic time. Sad to see it go, but happy it lives on in the tour!

This show was the show that finally got me to take a leap and fly 3000 miles across the country to realize my dream of having a "broadway vacation", something I always thought about and wanted to do so badly, but never did for one reason or another. It was the last of a 5 show weekend, and having grown up on the video with Leslie Ann Warren and quite literally singing these songs my entire life, even when it had been years since I saw the movie, they'd pop into my head out of nowehre. I had the joy of watching The OBC (minus victoria clark, and plus rebecca luker, her final performance, actually) from the front row, and I swear, I turned into a little girl again for a couple hours. I had hearts and tears in my eyes, and now this is the beginning of what will be a semi-regular trip to indulge myself in all my nerdy theater wonder, and I really don't think I would have finally broken out and done that if it wasn't for the fierce desire to see this reinvention of the show so close to my heart, one of my very first introductions to musicals. (and also to see Laura Osnes live, which made me understand without a shadow of a doubt why she's a two time tony nominated actress)

This show has always, and will always mean a lot to me, and this new version, with their additions, has made me love it even more. Even thought the odds were slim to none I would have seen it again on braodway, it's still really sad to see it closing. I'm really hoping I'll get to see the tour, because I'm dying to see paige and andy, but it looks like i'll have to go alone if anything, the tickets here went on sale without me realizing it, and they're nearly sold out.

This was the first musical I saw in New York and I could not have picked a better one. The original cast was perfection, the special effects were very well-done, and the sets and costumes were beautiful. I'm so glad this musical finally got to play Broadway and I hope everyone has a great final show.

Despite its flaws, I think this production had something that shows nowadways usually lack - a heart. No matter how unnecessary some of the newly written book scenes were, the wonderful score by Rodgers and Hammerstein has never been presented in a better way, not even in the magnificent original tv production with Julie Andrews. The musical felt fresh, but it also brought back some of the good old Broadway magic, that has been dearly missed for the last decade or so, since pop songs became the basis for practically every new Broadway score.

I saw this in previews. At the time I thought it was kinda sweet but not really my thing. Later I heard the magical OBC recording and fell in love with it. The OBC was truely amazing and I play the recording in high rotation.

I saw the show back in April with Carly Rae Jepsen and Fran Drescher and I loved it! I have seen clips of Santino and Laura, and I wish I could have the whole show with them! I listen to the OBC recording almost everyday!! This show is going to be missed!

I was at Cinderella tonight. The performance was electric. Incredible love and energy both onstage and in the house. After curtain call, Robyn Goodman came onstage and gave a speech. Mark Brokaw, Douglas Carter Beane, Andy Einhorn, David Chase, Josh Rhodes, Anna Louizos, and Ted Chapin (I may be forgetting some others) were all there representing the creative team. Laura Osnes, Victoria Clark, Ann Harada, Greg Hildreth, Sherri Shepherd, Rebecca Luker and several ensemble alumni came onstage as well. After Robyn's speech, everyone onstage sang It's Possible one last time. It was very moving to see everyone reunited and celebrating the beautiful show that they all were a part of.

I saw this show in the early previews and was completely taken aback by the negative commentary on this show. As with many shows, I don't often share some of the regular posters viewpoints on theater. This was certainly one of them. I thought it was charming and certainly better than some of the other musicals currently running on Broadway.
