I really don't think the Grammy voters listen to the albums in this category. I don't think it is a priority for them. My guess is that they usually just vote for whatever won Best Musical (Hairspray, Wicked, Spamalot)
Exactly.
They don't listen to them.
But HAIRSPRAY did not win the Grammy...GYPSY did.

I swear that my Hairspray recording had a sticker on it.
Are you sure?
Edit: According to the Hairspray website they did and Answers.com
It looks like they won in different years.
2006- Spamalot
2005- Wicked
2004- Gypsy
2003- Hairspray
2002- The Producers

Sweeney should win, but Jersey Boys will
And Wicked didn't win best musical . . .
Maybe you meant the most popular shows win.

Yes sorry.
I mean the show that gets the most attention. And Wicked got more attention for losing Best Musical than Avenue Q did for winning it.
The Color Purple's album was the best OBC of the year last year but Jersey Boys will win.
There's no way anything else even has a chance IMO.

um, the grammys mean nothing anyway. They haven't been relevant for decades.

I think Jersey Boys or Pajama Game will win. Remember, Pajama Game has Harry, and those Grammys sure love him.
Just an update...
Jersey Boys won.

What a shock (not)
Well deserved though as it is a greadt cast album
Not surprised. It's probably the only one the bunch they bothered to listen to all the way through.
I think it's a great cast album and deserved to win.
Plus, if the voters looked at who will actually get the award, they will see that the award is for Bob Gaudio. Nice tribute to him and the rest of the Four Seasons.

what a shock, they picked the album that was actually pop music.
I can't wait till next year's grammys...Spring Awakening had better win...Musically it's the most inovative musical score I've ever heard
I think then that you should listen to more musical scores.

I'm so pleased. As I implied in my original post, after 45 years of writing and producing, it was high time Bob Gaudio won a Grammy for something.
