I think they hold back seats for rush. They seem to be the extreme sides of the orchestra, which I never seen sold on telecharge. I rushed Josh's final performance (which I think was sold out), and they still gave our rush tickets. Rushing for the final will be insane though. I imagine the line will be very long.

I’m pretty sure there’s is still going to be a rush. There have been days in the past that it was sold out, but there was still a rush, because rush tickets aren’t a “when they’re available” thing. If a show offers rush tickets, which not all do, they’ll have some tickets available for rush every day. By subject to availablity they just mean that sometimes they’ll have 50 tickets and other times they’ll have 5. It does depend on how many seats have been bought for the show, but there are also certain seats that are kept at all times for rush. I know when I rushed in June the person at the box office said that they reserved 2 seats onstage for rush, and I’m sure there’s more reserved seats throughout the theatre. That being said, I would imagine that for the final performance the amount of tickets available for rush will be extremely limited, and, who knows, they might even cancel it just because it’s the final show.

Yes! Got there at 5:40a and was 11th in line iirc. We were friendly with the box office staff and he let us pick between orchestra, rear mezz, or box seats.

I rushed "A Doll's House, Part 2" across the street yesterday. Arrived at 8:45 and there were about 30 people in line at "Comet." By 10:00, the line had stretched to about 60 people.

I rushed yesterday, aka August 23rd, a Wednesday. My two friends and I arrived at 11:30. It was raining, which may have contributed to the lack of people. At 12:40 a couple showed up, their friend would later come. The next person showed up at about 3, and one of their friends also showed up later. After that, I began to lose track of the numbers of people showing up. At I would say 6 or 7, there were about 30 people in line. By the time the box office opened there were over 50. I'm not sure how many people got tickets.

As for where our seats were located, the 8 first people on line bought tickets to the evening show and got them. My friends and I, the first 3 people, got stage seats. With two of us having an almost unobstructed view of the show and having the actors frequently interact with us.  In fact, I was even one of the people handed a love letter by an ensemble member. The other 3 people behind us got a box to themselves. It seemed like a good view, though they didn't get interacted with.

However, one of my friends, the 3rd person in line, couldn't see a good portion of the show. They were in a stage seat all the way to the left if you face the stage, and were behind a good amount of people, some of whom had elevated seats. According to them, they couldn't see the left half of the stage or the Mezz, where the performers would sometimes go.

As for the stage door, a lot of ensemble members came out and about 4 people from the main cast. Most notably, Dave Malloy aka the current Pierre came out and took pictures with everyone who asked. Neither Lucas Steele nor Denee Benton came out. There were about 50 or so people at the stage door, it was what I refer to as a "layered" stage door, as there was a front row touching the barricade, and a back row of people also trying to get signatures.  This may have been because some people had seen another show before, and we were near the Hamilton stage door though.

Overall, if you're interested in seeing The Great Comet I think it's worth the wait. I would highly suggest you try to sleep if you're there for more than a couple of hours. Bring a blanket and a pillow, you will be exhausted. The pizza cafe on 8th ave and 45th street has an open bathroom in the back to the right, it's a life saver if you have to go. Just try not to get the seat my friend got, especially if it's your first time seeing the show. (It was Table TC for those wondering).

Hopefully this was helpful, and if you have any questions feel free to contact me Great Comet Rush

I think the fact that you were there 10 1/2 hours before the box office opened contributed mostly.

Yeah I got there at about 8:20 this morning and was 25th in line and still managed to snag 2 box seats for tonight's performance.

Curious ... what went into your decision to get there merely by 8:20AM?

I've seen the show 6 times already (with tickets for next week as well) and had a friend coming in who was curious. I happened to wake up at 7 and decided to go for it, especially since if I didn't get them then I could use the code for family/friends which is only applicable at the box office.

This Sunday will be my first time rushing on a Sunday (I usually have gone on Weds, Fri or Saturday.) Since the box office opens at noon does anyone know how the line looks at say 6 or 7am?

i have a friend from out of town counting on me so I don't want to be too late, nor can I go another day. Unfortunately I have to be out of town closing weekend.

On Saturdays I've had no issues at about 5am (been 2, 4, and 5 in line) but this is my last time seeing it plus my friend counting on me like I said so any thoughts appreciated.

I'm so sad it's closing.

This morning (8/30) I got in line at 4:30am and was about 9th in line. I bought two tickets for the matinee and was able to get seats in the box (which I think is the best place to see the show since you can see on stage, the mezzanine, and some of the orchestra). I also had the choice of one of the tables on the far left facing the stage and two front row orchestra seats also on the left side. Since I saw the show before from that angle (though further back) I decided to go with the box!

Side note: Six hours of waiting is a blast when you make friends with the people around you in line! Great Comet Rush 8/30

What time would you all recommend?

Saw Bandstand tonight and looked across the street on the way out, at 10:38pm on Friday night, there were at least a dozen people on the line for the Comet rush!

Anyone going to try for the final show.... GOOD LUCK!

On Friday night, 9/1, I left the theater approx 10:50p.  There were 25 folks camping the night for a ticket for Saturday's show.  Hopefully it won't rain.

Exactly why I showed my semi-serious surprise above that askers weren't simply getting their a$$ on the line.
