Camelot should only be performed in a concert format using as little of the book as possible, if at all.

I'm gonna say the Broadway version of Taboo.
Is there any way that the London version can be licensed and they can replace Bow Down, Mister with Come On In From The Outside?

Passing Strange won a Tony for it's book. So I'm confused.

So did Spring Awakening. Even though I'm a MASSIVE SA fan, the book could be stronger. The Tonys sometimes just choose the lesser evil when none of the books are particularly good. This past year was one of them. And Grey Gardens should have won instead of SA for Best Book.

If anyone should have won ANYTHING for Spring Awakening's book, it's Frank Wedekind. Sater's win as basically a master of cut-and-paste was unprecedented.

Naw, T.S. Elliot's win for Cats was probably my favorite win in the book category. Then again, at least he actually wrote the poems.

"13" - Hysterical book, just not for the right reasons and wrong for the audience.
"Spring Awakening" - Did you see Stephen Sater's acceptance speech?
"Taboo" - Hot mess.

I am amazed at some of the shows listed here. Not the fact that they are listed, but that people have actually either seen the show or read the libretto sufficiently to judge. Greenwillow? Carrie? 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? Taboo? Also some shows are listed that are more or less sung through. How can the score be better than the book? I actually thought Curtains should have won for Best Book, at least against the competition that year.

So can we add Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown to this list?

I liked the book for Women on the Verge. And I'm also a fan of the film. I've been a bit obsessed with the show since I saw it and after reading the opinions and views here, I was truly expecting a disaster. I'm so glad I ignored it all and went anyway.
