Mae Peterson in Bye Bye Birdie
Joanne in Company
Amy in Company
Carlotta in Follies
Stella Deems in Follies
Charlotte in A Little Night Music
Cassie in A Chorus Line
Matron Mama Morton in Chicago
Clara in Passion
Carla in Nine
The Chaperone in The Drowsy Chaperone
Edith Bouvier Beale in Grey Gardens
I know I'm missing so many.

Edith Bouvier Beale in Grey Gardens
Mama Morton in Chicago
Clara in the Light in the Piazza
The Lady of the Lake in Spamalot (not Sara Ramirez but Hannah Waddingham)
Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins (again Linzi Hately not Rebecca Luker)
Carlotta in POTO
Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music (well Lesley Garrett at any rate)
Sally Brown in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
I really want to say the Chaperone (I absolutely loved both Beth Leavel and Elaine Paige), but something's holding me back. I just don't think the role is up there with LITP's Clara or Mama Morton.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 8:38pmDo you guys think Ulla is really a lead? I think she's more of a supporting actress. If anyone agrees, I say DEFINITELY Ullaingahansenbensonyollenhallentallenshmallensvenson. (or whatever her name is!)
#8re: Greatest Supporting Female Roles of Musical Theatre..
Posted: 6/18/07 at 8:39pmI say Ulla is supporting. That's what the Tonys considered her.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 8:43pmI might get flogged for saying this, but I've always found the role of Louise (other than the striptease) rather bland and one-note. I guess one could argue that her lack of a voice in the show up until "Let Me Entertain You" goes to show how she is marginalized by Rose, but I've honestly never seen a production where I truly cared about the character.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 10:41pmHow is Glinda supporting? I can't see that statement being justified. She even has more songs than Elphaba. Well last time I counted.. which was years ago lol.

Glinda - 11
Elphaba - 12
I think that Edie Bouvier Beale is a pretty good part as well.

No, she does not have more songs than Elphaba. And her part in the story is most definitely supporting.
And if Chenoweth would have been considered featured, she would be a two time Tony winner today.

I don't think an annoying fluff role in WICKED would've beat a strong dramatic role in CAROLINE OR CHANGE.
