Ha- just a day ago there was a thread on this on the OT board.

I miss it like CRAZY. My favorite show I have ever seen.

re: Grey Gardens; WE Miss You!

The first time I saw GREY GARDENS I was in the last row (which is the second row) of the Balcony WAY at the top of the Walter Kerr - dead center.

The second and last time I saw GREY GARDENS I was in the very front row - dead center.

Both times, the show was stunning! ESPECIALLY up close!

That being said - I really wish I could have seen CAROLINE, OR CHANGE.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

re: Grey Gardens; WE Miss You!

Nah -- I have excellent bootleg DVDs of both the Broadway and Playwrights Horizon incarnations of the show, so I can get my delicious fix when I need it.

Thanks to whoever filmed these as they are sensationally shot. re: Grey Gardens; WE Miss You!

A scrapbook? I haven't seen one of those since high school. Ouch!

I wonder if Amy still has all those that she did back-in-the-day. Even then we used to goof her.

Jay, that scrapbook looks great! I'd love to see more pages.

I miss this show so much! I was thinking about it today as I watched Seth's video blog of Christine. I still think that Grey Gardens closed prematurely and it definately deserved a longer run. I love this show!!!

re: Grey Gardens; WE Miss You!

The wonderful news is that Christine is doing Applause with Erin, so we'll get to see them together again! :) And...
Frankel and Korie have TWO, not one but TWO new shows coming up, one of which, if I'm not mistaken, will see a production at Lincoln Center this fall. :) And the other will likely see the light of day soon! So hooray for them!
Grey Gardens did close very prematurely (Thank you to the Gondas for that), but it lives on. Hopefully it'll get done in London.

This show needed to be recorded for PBS!

God I wish I could see APPLAUSE!

Did anyone see Maureen Moore's performance? How was it compared to Christine's?
You look absolutely terrific, honestly.

Not all of us get to. re: Grey Gardens; WE Miss You!

Personally, I was highly disappointed by Maureen's performance. It in no way compared to Christine's nuanced performance, nor was her voice as good. Just my opinion. I read about some people who loved her.

I did! I thought she was fantastic. Her performance was definitely different from Christine's, but I thought it worked.
