I heard strong rumors about both Jackson and Stamos.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Cheyenne did the role way back when. He'd be fine, should he opt to do it. I don't see Matt Morrison in the role, although he has his supporters. If he weren't tied up with West Story, Matt Cavenaugh would have been good in the part (in fact, I'd be more excited to see him as Sky than as Tony). Sky has been cast by performers whose singing was not one of their noted features, starting with Robert Alda, continuing through Marlon Brando. I'm not minimizing the vocal requirements, but I think charisma is the key to the role. IMO.
Will Stamos be done with ER by the time the show goes into rehearsals? I doubt it, especially if it's in December unless ER only does half a season or something like that, I have no idea.
Jackson seems to be quite busy right now with workshops and whatnot but I think that's about it, he might be available to open the show. Judging from the casting so far, it doesn't look like they are going for theater actors (meaning actors known mainly for their stage work to the general public), but who knows? Jackson seems to be the go-to leading man nowadays.
Anne Hathaway--who was initially rumored for the Donmar transfer--would have been ideal as Sarah Brown, but oh well (She does have a great singing voice, btw). The now-rumored Lauren Ambrose is perfection.

It does my heart good to hear Cheyenne being referred to as the "go-to" musical theatre guy. And, God, does he deserve it!
If I may divert the conversation a little, a legitimate rumour is the one that Clive Wood is going to be part of the RSC's next ensemble. The ensemble hasn't been announced, but the rumour in question has come from all directions - including Wood himself - so I'd call that a legitimate rumour. Whereas the rumour that Geoffrey Streatfeild will be part of the same ensemble is more wishful thinking on my part than anything else, so is TOTALLY illegitimate (but I will be dancing a merry jig if it turns out true).
Yeah, all rumours are illegitimate if you want to be a pedant, but some come from MUCH more reliable sources. :3
I heard a VERY strong rumor that Craig Bierko is in talks to play Sky
I don't quite understand the rumors about Cheyenne Jackson unless both The Band Wagon and the Mormon Musical are going nowhere.
Amy Adams would make a wonderful Sarah bu I don't think her agent would let her do stage right now.
Craig Bierko is sexy as hell and after he dodged the TO BE OR NOT TO BE bullet, it'd be great seeing him on stage as Sky.

Speaking for myself here, the rumors I heard about Cheyenne as Sky were months ago, BEFORE his connections to the pieces you mentioned were announced. And that was my point in my post on the 1st page of this thread: given his other commitments, it looks as though Guys and Dolls wasn't in the cards for him. Although I wish it was.

Anne Hathaway's voice is okay for a Hollywood actress but not that great, IMO. Amy Adam's voice is too weak.
Sorry, I'm pretty protective of soprano roles.
Anyway, Cheyenne as Sky would be amaaazing.

If Paul Rudd's movie career wasn't so hot right now, I'd want to see him do it.
The best suggestion here so far, IMHO, is Harry Connick.
He'll fill LOTS of seats too!
Yeah Connick and Jackman are great choices. Patrick Wilson would also be great, IMO. It just shouldn't be someone too young looking.. they'd look like Platt's son.
I hate it when people cast Sky with these boyish tenors (like Patrick Wilson). Harry Connick Jr. would be perfect. Jackman would be good. Craig Bierko would be okay, but he's like, 6'5'. Whoever plays Sarah would have to be tall or it will look silly.
boyish? just bc he's pretty, does not mean he's boyish. yes, he's a tenor..but he's quite manly. just a bit different from someone like Jackman
I just wish Ashley Brown wasn't going on tour with the POPPINS.
She would be the perfect Sarah.
And Steven Pasquale needs to get out of his lucrative contract with that homophobe Leary and take on Sky and take home a Tony.
Oh my God, yes! I completely forgot about Mr. Pasquale! He is my second choice, only a little bit behind Mr. Connick Jr.
