IF and it is a very large IF this happens and IF Benanti is involved (she has told friends, she is through with live theatre)
I'd love to know who you've been speaking to because that couldn't be more incorrect.

Posted: 11/5/07 at 9:16pmI'll be so happy if this actually happens...not holding my breath... but even if I don't get to see it again, it will make one hell of Cast Recording and maybe it will even be filmed for DVD!

Posted: 11/5/07 at 9:23pmI thought Benanti was supposed to be a series regular in ELI STONE along with Victor Garber. Oh well. She is actually a pretty good TV actress, though STARVED was a disaster she managed to be really good in it.

Posted: 11/5/07 at 9:24pmPrince was truly wonderful, but I don't see her being major competition for a win. A nomination, without question, but not a win.

"I'm guessing you didn't see Robert Lambert."
No, I didn't see the Tyne Daly revival, but I still stand by my opinion on Yazbeck.
I adored Boyd Gaines' performance, and hope he gets a Tony nom for it.

I know this is almost COMPLETLEY off subject, but is anyone else dying for Faith Prince to do Mama Rose all freaking ready?
And, if Benanti gets injured in a freak strip accident, you can bet I will chortle.
Digression ended.

I've seen Prince and LaPone
in these shows
and I liked Lapone
She was cheated for Sweeney
but Prince is stretching her talent in this role and giving a more remarkable performance.
And there are more shows to come.

Posted: 11/5/07 at 11:12pmIn the last (deleted) Benanti thread, people claimed she was only doing a few episodes. Now she's been promoted to a series regular? Um, where are the official confirmations of THAT news? At least Gypsy has legitimate rumors, these are just fans' claims pulled out of thin air.

Posted: 11/5/07 at 11:14pmLaura Benanti was announced as a series regular for "Eli Stone" when the pilot went into production. The writers figured along the way, however, that her character wouldn't work in a full time capacity and have thus limited her tenure on the show to a reccuring one.

"I don't know. It seems that TONY voters don't love Patti and they don't love the role of Mamma Rose."
Patti is well liked among the theatre community and the voters AND two actresses who have played Madame Rose have won, Angela Lansbury and Tyne Daly. You are wrong there my friend.

Posted: 11/6/07 at 10:08amI think Lupone has a good chance, unless some brand new talent comes along and gets all the attention - a la LaChanze. Granted LaChanze wasn't "new talent" but she was giving a stellar performance, and really showed her star power. Although, I don't see the lead in Little Mermaid as any sort of threat.

Posted: 11/6/07 at 10:50amLaChanze was not giving a stellar performance. She was giving a lackluster performance that she couldn't even pull off eight times a week. The voters were either on crack when they filled out their ballots or they were affraid Oprah would throw a hissyfit if LaChanze lost. Ms. LuPone was entirely deserving of that award in 2006. It's not LaChanze's fault she won, but it is her fault she was lousy and missed shows constantly, especially after winning.
