re: Gypsy IS happening

Should this come to pass, Jenna Russell will give Patti LuPone serious competition. She's gotten the Olivier and many other awards in London for her performance in Sunday in the Park With George. In the Heights will shock everyone I think. (And Priscilla Lopez is a force to reckon with.) Faith Prince poses formidable competition. It's a very open category-Gypsy did not get universal raves (and neither did LuPone-notably from the Times).

Benanti is the only one I believe will win.

re: Gypsy IS happening

I like people like WickedBoy who think things can't possibly be true if they don't come from Broadway.com. LOL.

Anyway, whatever. I'm excited.

re: Gypsy IS happening

I didnt mention Broadway .com in my post. I believe things when it comes from the producers themselves NOT kids on here and as i said nothing announced as yet!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

re: Gypsy IS happening

So What happened to Cabaret Revival ?

I guess nobody actually reads the fine print, or the many answers to that question posted on the boards.

The Cabaret revival was never planned for this season, never even set in stone.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Can't confirm anything, but there's definitely a good chance.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Should this happen... Benanti will be the first Louise to win a Tony..

... anyone remember some months back when this board was ablaze with Benanti haters for her "get a life" comments on message board posters?

Looks like Benanti had the last laugh... good for her!

re: Gypsy IS happening

Oh, I don't know. I think she's an incredibly talented performer, who made a dumb remark.

re: Gypsy IS happening

I found Benanti completely distasteful. She's the one cast member I'd be happy was replaced should this happen.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Oh, and what's his name from CHORUS LINE who played Tulsa. He should be replaced as well.

Everyone else was perfection.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Benanti has tough competition from Andrea Martin, who's brilliantly funny in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.

Anyways, if this is indeed true, I am so happy. And holler for the St. James! It'll be great in that theatre.

Rath...oh no you di-int! re: Gypsy IS happening

I still think Benanti was an ahole for making those comments, but I admitted she was a wonderful Louise after saying she was too old and crabby.

A Chorus Line Tulsa is dismissed.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Of course it will be great in that theatre. It was great in that theatre in 1989/1991.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

re: Gypsy IS happening

I thought the Cabaret revival was for the following season. The original announcement was that it was going back to Studio 54, so they have to wait for Sunday to close.

D2 is quite correct. That theater is perfect for that show, as has already been rather beautifully proven.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Is Benanti the one with the poor attendance record?
I gets em confused.
....but the world goes 'round

re: Gypsy IS happening

The problem with Jenna Russell is that SUNDAY will probably be closed once Tony time comes. It's highly unlikely they will give her the award when the show isn't running. Remember when everyone was considering Maria Friedman a serious contender a couple years ago? WIW closed, and she didn't even get nominated.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Yes, Benanti is the one with the attendence issue.

re: Gypsy IS happening

Perhaps Fantasia can be her standby.
