It's so sad when someone wants something to fail so badly.
I don't understand this...their advertising was so fresh...

Its only its first week of previews and it is a 1700 seat house. I have no doubt it will gain attendance soon.
I don't want it to fail, but really did anyone think this would be a sell out?
Everyone is just afraid of getting a concussion.
it's hard to sell the aisle seats where La Lupone will not be striding by braying "Sing out Louise." The faithful want to be able to touch the hem of her robe.
1.Its been done to death
2.There is a recession going on
3.Wall St is tanking
The rest of Broadway will not be immune either & by constantly raising prices, recession or not, they are sliting their own throats.
You did read that the grosses are not from this production of Gypsy, right?

Read the grosses post - the whole thing. The grosses show a weekly difference, which is impossible as it has only been running for a week.

Read it again.. they are questioning the previous weeks number as there was no previous week. Playbill is reporting 52% and no previous week. The number is 52%... deal with it!

Well, I refuse to believe that La Lupone is only at 52% ok??? It just can't be! I had a dreaaaaammmm...

With the last revival 3 years ago that dream is more like deja vu!
It just opened. March isn't a great month. It'll pick up.
I have no idea if this does actually have anything to do with this, but a lot of people just rushed to see this in July, so they may be waiting a while longer to see it again than first week of previews. I know I am one of those people.

Did it pack city center for those few weeks? No. There is just no need for this revival. Even the last one limped along for its year run.
What was an exciting idea for a summer show has turned into a vanity project for Laurents. I hope he gets his rocks off on such a huge financial disaster.
I am one of those people too MotorTink. I'm seeing it in about a week and a half. By the way everyone, all of my early Tony predictions for this show are based on the City Center incarnation. So if, for example, Boyd Gaines isn't as strong as he was at City Center (which I highly doubt, he's probably gotten better) and you read a post of mine plugging him for Featured Actor, remember that.
I'm definitely in the saw it at City Center, not in a rush to see it again. Actually I'm not sure I will... Time will tell.
I couldn't really care less either way but bitter much, Flaunt it?
Flaunt It, beware of Patti...you know what she does to posters who question her need to be on Broadway!

Why anyone would be surprised about this is beyond me.
As it has been said before, it's first week of previews in March of all months. Not only that, but it's a revival that commercially speaking makes absolutely no sense. I have no doubts that when the reviews come out, it'll see a nice bump but it wasn't a sell-out at City Center and it won't be a sell-out on Broadway.
Agreed about that "bitter much" Tink.
