I see that Gypsy got some fantastic reviews but does anyone know if that stupid lamb puppet has survived past the previews or did the mint sauce come out at the opening night party?

The lamb's peformance has improved exponentially and now there is a significant Tony Buzz.
A definite WTF moment. Esp. since there are no other moments like it ANYWHERE in the show.
The puppet works fine for LITTLE LAMB. But the way they introduce it is pretty frightening.

For a minute there, I thought you were going to post that they were allowing you to take pictures holding the lamb to raise money for Broadway Cares or something.
That being said, everyone seems to complain about how cheap the lamb puppet looks. In the past, did they use real sheep for Gypsy?
I believe there was a real sheep in the Bernadette Peters production.

I couldn't agree more.

This made me laugh... a LOT!! That would be great.
Well there is the stuffed chowsie also, that was really pathetic.

I haven't seen the show yet. How is it frightening?

Perhaps they were afraid a real lamb would draw attention from LuPone
Frightening...as in Frighteningly wrong. Laughable. Something you would not expect to see in a Broadway show.
That said, the stuffed dog is just as embarrassing. Especially since Lupone has to carry it on for her entrance. Its not even a good stuffed dog. Go to FAO Schwartz and you can find a more convincingly real dog.
Although now we have the term "manlamb," which I find hilarious.
Word is the lamb is currently off sick and being understudied by Meryl Sheep.
When that Lamb puppet came out, it reminded me of what the animals in THE LION KING look like.
It seems the lamb isn't sick, it was auditioning for Avenue Ewe (and it has its eye on roles in Lamb Yankees and The Wool Monty)
Stupid lambs.
Are you sure it wasn't auditioning for the role of Max Bahhlystock in The Prodewecers?
I like to think that in this production, Chowsie actually IS a stuffed dog, but Rose makes everyone around her pretend it's real.
Also, I once had to transport a live lamb (don't ask) and the thing pooped all over my car. So I have no problem with them using that stupid lamb puppet in the show.
