I haven't seen the show yet, and was wondering if the cast walks on the chairs in the show.

That was sort of the point. To represent the staging you see in the show...

well I know but I was wondering if walking on the chairs was just a special thing they did for the Late Show. And I thought the flowers were to further promote the show to the people in the audience. But now I understand. :)

And also the original cast walked on the chairs on The Ed Sullivan Show 40 years ago.

I think the original cast's performance on Ed Sullivan is part of PBS' Broadway: The American Musical series.
Oh, and I thought I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I've watched that youtube video WAY too many times. I really, really need to see the show again.

Just got around to seeing it -- confirms my thought that it is the most uplifting glorious show of the season. And Will Swenson, oh my God, what a primal life force he is!!!
I have a ticket for Godot on June 6th matinee. I DEFINITELY want this to be my second show of the day. Will get the wheels moving fast on that one.
I'm still in shock! It is SO GLORIOUS!!!!!

Yes, there is a chunk of the original Ed Sullivan on the PBS Broadway. It's mostly THE FLESH FAILURES started by the devine Heather McCrea and joined by the diviner Melba Moore.
They go into the audience with flowers and then festoon Ed with beads and flowers.

The Flesh Eaters? I thought we were talking about Hair, not Sweeney Todd.
Or maybe you're thinking of Eating Raoul.
Or maybe you're thinking of Eating Raoul.
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Yeah, I think I saw that movie... The Flesh Eaters, but it didn't have anything to do with Broadway. More like "Can I help you with your package Mr. UPS man..."

I remember seeing the original cast do it on Ed Sullivan too. It was my first experience with The Flesh Failure. The OBC was one of my first LPs (I still have it skips and all!).
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
