I wish people would stop saying HAIR is a so-so musical, it is unconventional, but when done well it can be glorious, as this production proves.
As I stated before, the original production ran 4 years (2 more than SPRING AWAKENING), at the time that was like running 10 years. I'm glad that the reviewers are pointing out how great the score is.
WANNABE, no producers put up a show thinking it will loose money (except Max B.), I'm sure they thought that poeple would run to see Patti, but they didn't.
I think they should put Swenson and Creel in Lead position, and I think they both deserve it. but it's gonna be tuff to beat those BILLYS, voters love kids.

YES. That's the REASON why WSS will not win the TONYS- Two words, people.

and it all boils down to the director. it's his ALL HIS FAULT why this masterpiece was not fully realized! sad but true! It's a good show but NOT THE BEST!

They don't usually report that often. I think we'll just have to wait and see how the next few weeks/months pan out with the weekly grosses.

I hope Swenson is left in the featured category, and I most certainly hope he wins a well-deserved Tony for his marvelous multi-layered performance. Creel was okay and deserves a nod, but I don't think he should win. I much preferred Trent in BILLY ELLIOT and I'd be glad if he (and I guess his peers) won the award for Best Actor.
Either way, I think HAIR deserves the Best Revival award and I agree with WannaBeAFoster that Paulus should win the Director award, she just really made HAIR shine in ways that Laurents couldn't even begin to do with his show.
