TheatreCrab aka Katherine Brooks:

Broadway musical recordings are known as Original Broadway Cast Recordings or Cast Recordings -- NOT soundtracks!

Film recordings are known as Original Motion Picture Soundtrack or Film Soundtrack or Soundtrack from the Movie, etc.

Marc, I just read the EW article.... What do you think about the Academy's new voting procedures for Score/Song categories?

For those who dont know-
Studios are no longer allowed to send cd's/musicvideos/sheet music etc. to voters. They will simply rely on voters to see the films in the theatres and make their decisions the old-fashioned way.

EW makes the prediction that with these new rulings it is more likely that "Ladies' Choice" will be nominated over "Come So Far."

-Adam Shankman.

"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"
-E!'s "The Soup"

Mateo, how do you figure? Because viewers will not have stuck around for the credits to actually hear the song, or because "Ladies Choice" is the better song?

Its not my opinion- just what EW says.

Studios will still be placing "For Your Consideration" ads suggesting which nominations and which categories to nominate in the trade papers so it's not exactly a guessing game for an Academy member. I'm sure both "Ladies Man" and "Come So Far" will be on the list.

Hey Marc! Sorry if youve been asked this question before but who originally sang The New Girl in Town on Broadway? And do you know the position of it in the show? Thanks so much for all your great music, too!

re: HAIRSPRAY Questions answered here! (inevitable Spoilers)

The New Girl In Town was cut before the out of town tryouts. So, no one sings it on Broadway.
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster. "Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."

I have lyrics to both of them.

do you think that you could lend them to me? I am in love with Hairspray and I was wondering if you could give me the lyrics? I understand if you would rather not.

re: HAIRSPRAY Questions answered here! (inevitable Spoilers)

sorry again if this has already been answered but does anyone know why the "a tycoon I wed, so cuddly and funny" verse of Miss Baltimore Crabs was cut from the movie? I thought I saw it in the rehearsals for the movie so i was just wondering.

re: HAIRSPRAY Questions answered here! (inevitable Spoilers)

Sorry for asking the question again but I was just wondering if anybody knew who was going to sing "The New Girl in Town" because I thought that it was in the show during the pre-Broadway run in Seattle so I was wondering if Amber actually sings it or Tracy because in the song it says "Hey look she's wearing his ring" and I thought that could have been Tracy talking about Amber when Link gave her his Council Member ring.
