It's not really a rumor.
*edit* listening again. If the parts stayed the same
Judine doesnt sound like Judine- unless her style has changed since recording the OBCR "leeetle touch of lipstick never hurt no one."
That is most certainly Kamilah singing "High heeled shoes" and Shayna "something fresh something new"
broadwayguy2 said the third voice is Terita R Redd, which would explain why it doesnt sound like Judine. - but why not get Judine? who is still IN Hairspray on Broadway.

I second, Interest. Travolta looks and sounds horrible. The great thing about the original movie and the stage show is that you don't have to use a fat suit or special makeup. Doing that (and, by the looks of it, doing it poorly) takes away so much facial expression and thereby so much spirit of the performance. Especially on camera, it can be so irritating! I just don't see the same gusto in him that he had in Grease, i guess.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 8:23amI'd been suspecting that something was up with Travolta when he was very conspicuously absent from much of the advertising, and this only confirms it. Travolta looks absolutely hideous. His vocal performance is limp, at best. No one has ever done less with that song. No real joy or energy, he just runs around with a lot of latex on his face and a wig. What on earth were they thinking?

Two things bother me with this:
1. John Travolta's singing
2. either show ALL three Dynamites and not just the first two at the end or don't show them at all

Travolta physical performance is really okay with me, but his singing lacks energy and spunk. yes spunk.
the overall producation looks really cool.

The stage show not using a fat suit? Are you kidding me? Harvey and virtually everyone else (aside from Bruce Vilanch or Paul Vogt -- I venture to assume) wore fat suits. Harvey, though a large man, is NOT fat -- his infamous fat suit added not only the large gut, but the chest and rear. Heck, even most Tracy's have a version of a 'fat' suit/padding on them.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 10:38amWell, I have to say that for those of us who haven't watched the Oprah episode featuring the cast, Travolta received a HUGELY warm reception from the crowd, who saw the movie the night before the taping. He was the cast member anchoring all the interviews, and has been promoting the movie just as much as the other cast members.

That was a GREAT clip and Travolta was doing a very good job !
And mateo, previously Zac did nothing for me, until THAT picture...Please keep it for more than a week, it is a feast for sore eyes !

Posted: 5/26/07 at 4:02pmThere was no life in that clip at all. It was pretty bland and boring. It seems like all the joy and energy has beensucked out of the music too.

How was that bland?
and the music is temporary.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 4:11pmI absolutely agree, Mateo that the music is the temporary sinc track, used for filming. Tbey will loop the whole thing afterward and sweeten where necessary, which, sadly, seems to be all of Travolta (and I was the one saying he had all the tools to do the roll, seems now that he'll have to borrow a few here and there). When you see the finished product, a star the calibre of John Travolta will be protected by the sound guys and I'll bet a few reshoots and close-ups.

Tbey?
I don't hear anything wrong with anyone's voice or performance- it's just that the sound levels are not adjusted.
and as we all know music is a huge part of any movie- let alone a MUSICal... 'Sound' will make up 50% of the experience. It isn't really fair to judge all the tracks when we know they are temp.
They could have just as easily- not shown anything- for that reason.

Although this put a huge smile on my face, something bothered me about this: John Travolta.
I setteled with the fact that he was cast, but now I'm having my doubts. I don't know what it is...his singing was very bland and some of his facial expressions were very overacted...oh well. We'll see what happens.
I DID enjoy the Jerry Stiller cameo.

Posted: 5/26/07 at 5:55pmBruce Vilanch and the 4 other Edna's I dressed wore and undergarment very similar to Harvey's except for the gut. They all were onesies with large, silicone breasts (The LARGEST on the market) with padded hips and butts, but I wouldn’t really call it a ‘fat suit’, it was more like a ‘body shaper’ to give the silhouette of a woman. The same went with the Tracy’s I worked with.

TRAVOLTA IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC.
I heard him talked up so much on Oprah and I was really quite excited to hear/see him.
BUT WOW OH WOW WAS THE AWFUL.
His atrocious performance better not ruin the movie! What the krap was Oprah raving about???
I DON'T GET IT.

Posted: 6/1/07 at 5:42amTravolta is pretty horrible in that clip. That prosthetic face was a bad choice from the get-go. Not only does he look scary and not quite human (which is the opposite effect he wanted, with him saying how he wanted to look like a real woman and not a man in drag) but as another person said before, it prevents him from showing any real emotion. Then there's his voice which has no energy or oomph to sell the song.
