The could probably get the show up and running in 3 weeks. Probably less."
Oh ye of little understanding. As said above, there are a lot of moving parts (and some that probably won't move. Ever left grandpa's car sitting in the garage for a year and a half?)"
Actually I do understand. And yeah once they get those actors in the building.
3 weeks.
Why would we assume that people aren't in the buildings now making sure that things aren't falling apart, it's not all just been abandoned."
I would assume there are people checking on the theaters but probably not much more than walk throughs. (Run water, flush toilets, minor updates) The theaters are not fully staffed with operations from what I have heard.
There is a lot that will need to go into getting back up. Shows will want rehearsal space. There is not enough space for all shows to rehearse at the same time. I spoke to a few friends with a few shows and they said that some shows may choose to rehearse in their theaters. Sets will need to be cleaned and checked. Lighting and sound checked. Things may need to be replaced simply from sitting idle for too long.
We know some actors have left town. Quite possible some show staff have also. All of those people will need to be replaced which could involve auditions, rehearsals and training. Maybe some of the smaller shows could swing 3 weeks. I suspect that unless they wait for Broadway, we will see some off-Broadway shows open first.
Also, where will theater people be on the list for vaccines? Where will we actually be as far as number of people vaccinated. It is all projected right now. I think in a perfect world the big three would be offered the vaccine to administer to all staff on a scheduled day or days. Maybe extend that to the shows in their theaters. And remember, this is a two shot vaccine with weeks in between shots. I would suspect that would have to happen before even going into the theater which means everyone should get the vaccine late March or in May to go back in June. Just my thoughts and thoughts based on conversations I have had with friends in the business.
