What nods do you guys think it will get? I think:
Best Musical
Best Leading Actor (Odom, Jr.)
Best Leading Actor (Miranda)
Best Leading Actress (Soo)
Best Featured Actor (Diggs)
Best Featured Actor (Groff OR Jackson)
Best Featured Actress (Goldsberry)
Best Book of a Musical
Best Score
Best Direction
Best Choreography
Best Scenic Design
Best Costume Design
Best Lighting Design
Best Orchestrations
Wow, that's 15! I'm hoping that Diggs and Jackson get nominated to make it a record-breaking 16, but this is a very talented year.
I agree with all the above, but would add Jasmine Sephas Jones in supporting
Agree- in the acting categories it'll be JHUD and Goldsberry neck and neck ftw, but with Leslie in best leading actor I don't think he will win but Danny Burnstein will win his long awaited Tony
I think it will tie with The Producers and win 12 of them.
Leslie for Best Actor
Renée and Daveed for Supporting
and all the other categories listed in the original post.
I think it will...and should...be nominated in every category it is eligible for. That will mean multiple nominations is some categories.
God, I can't remember so many of my friends talking about the Tony Award for lighting!!

I feel the same! The lighting is amazing and I've never felt anymore than I did seeing this show, that the lighting was character in the show.

I think American Psycho will win lighting, She Loves Me will win Set Design, Cynthia Erivo will win Best Leading Actress, Danny Burstein could always win Best Leading Actor, and there are so many amazing candidates for Choreography, though I think Hamilton is a front runner. I don't think it will win 12, but it will win a fair few!

Hamilton is the first show that I've felt amazed by the lighting. In fact it was the first thing I mentioned to my friend at intermission and this was before the cast recording was out. I haven't seen American Psycho though.
I'm actually hoping to see Hamilton almost sweep the featured actor category - Daveed, Jon, Chris, Anthony, and Oak.
It likely won't happen for the last two, but can you imagine? IMO it is Daveed's to lose.

What are the odds of a first time nominee winning? Are the Tonys a "earn your dues" kind of thing?
I think it's definitely possible for someone to win on their first nomination (I can think of Jessie Mueller, Kristin Chenoweth and Lea Salonga come to mind).

The only thing is after last year, not to bring up he old argument but Kelli won and was overdue, so I think that's what is leading a lot of people to select Burstein this year (besides his fantastic performance obviously).

Jessie Mueller won on her second nomination.

Not only that, but I think a win for him would be a great way to acknowledge Fiddler on the Roof.
I could really see at least three nominations in Featured Actor (Diggs, Jackson, and Groff would get my vote). If it happened last year in Featured Actress for Fun Home, it can definitely happen this year for the biggest Broadway phenomenon since Rent.
Off-topic, but how interesting would it be if every musical acting category winner was a performer of color? I could definitely see it happening (Odom, Erivo, Diggs, Goldsberry). It would be such an interesting counterpoint to #OscarsSoWhite
in addition to the first poster's list, i'll just say I think Groff, Diggs, and Jackson will all be nominated for featured actor, and it will likely go to Jackson. Diggs, while amazing may fall into the issue of actors playing multiple roles in a show (see also Rory O'Malley in Book of Mormon) confusing voters.
I think lighting will go to American Psycho. I found the Hamilton lighting to be just too much. It was cool at first but as the show went on, they kept on doing gigantic lighting cues that IMO weren't needed.
I would love to see Bright Star take best scorE. Hamilton has some wonderful music in it but I like Bright Star as a whole more.

This isn't a joke thread. We're being serious.

I'm seeing American Psycho this Friday but the lighting I witnessed in "The Battle of Yorktown" made me feel as if I was actually witnessing canons and bloodshed.
