Maurice came onstage last night. Well, the show would be better if the pit singers sang the entire show and the fantastic cast of dancers could just dance. I also loved the costume (black sparkle dress for the Mother at the end. I want it) Who is the dancer in white pants and a hat- He made my friend and I swoon.
Well, there are two: If you are talking about last night, you most likely saw the understudy because Micheal Valderrama has been out and his understudy is Daryl Spiers, who plays Rahim aka, "Guy in the white pants" (song: Dirty) Last night, Daryl Spiers played "Anthony" (Choreograpger) Rahim (guy in white pants) was played by: Jon-Paul Mateo
Corine, that whole mocha choca latta line up for Serpentine Fire is HOT! HOT! HOT! I agree this was a celebration of strong male anatomy, not chorus boys (not that there's anything wrong with them).
You know the show "borrows" so heavily from , Mama Mia, Chorus Line, The Wiz, Stayin' Alive, and others, it's too bad they didn't borrow the format from Movin' Out as well.
Remember Dan Akroid's "Bad Cinema". I just wrote the book off from the get go and told myself that this is a dance musical.
A complaint I had was the sound. This is 2006! Could the music not come at you better? It needs to be crisper. I would have liked it to come at me from the rear of the theatre as well. If it did, it didn't hear it.
I thought I would be dancing in my chair like i did at Mama Mia, but I never found my groove. Maybe because I never recovered from my jaw dropping wide open from the sexy dancers.
