Posted: 8/23/05 at 5:41pmI am still obsessed with this cd and I've had it since March! That NEVER happens. I love Shoshana, Adam, Ana, Raul, Euan, Laura, Gavin, Julia, and Orfeh's songs. Also, I've developed a thing for Harris Doran who sings on a handful of songs. And "flesh failures" is just a perfect finale. Love this cd!!

I'm actually disappointed a little by the production of this CD. On a lot of it, I feel a great deal of that live energy was just lost.
Other than that...yes, perfection.

Posted: 8/23/05 at 6:22pmLove this album! However, I guess I am the only person who's ears bleed when they listen to Shoshana's "I Believe In Love." I also love, love, love Billy Porter's "Abie, Baby"!

Posted: 8/23/05 at 10:57pmI'm so happy that the true and hardcore broadway fanatics (us on Broadway World) appreciate this recording! I'm surprised it took me this long to actually buy it. Brilliantly produced with an all star cast, who I might add, does this score justice.

Great Concert and Greater ReCording.
I wish for more Harris, love him with Eden on "Hippie Life"
should have had a song of his own
I think "Where Do I Go?" is a Boy's song...
Julia Rox though, they all do
Love that Annie Golden
thanks Seth

Posted: 8/24/05 at 12:16amI don't know Hair well enough to say for sure, but if Julia's song is indeed intended to be sung by a male, I think I heard that there was more than one song like that - gender reversed.

Right you are Emcee...
"Air" comes to mind.
And "Initials" is usually sung by the entire cast.

Posted: 8/24/05 at 12:20amI don't care for it. There are songs that are good. There are songs that are bad. And what the whole collection lacks is staying power. In a few years it will be like one of those Pickwick British studio recordings of Godspell.

Posted: 8/24/05 at 12:34amUm, no one has mentioned the fact that Toxic Audio used NO instruments for their rendition of "Electric Blues?!" That's right, even the guitar sound is human-produced. They are insaaaaaane.

I agree wholeheartedly with Namo.
HAIR is one of my favorite shows, and I worked on a production of it- I know the show and the score inside and out, and was more than eager to hear this new recording.
Unfortunately, I listend to it a few times and now it is just collecting dust.
While great that more of the score is preserved (if "Hippie Life" can even be considered part of the score, being that it was written in 1992 and has nothing to do with the show,) the energy is completely lacking, the tempos are all set at a deathly slow speed, and the performers are more obsessed with the sound of their own voice than with doing the score any sort of justice. Okay, Jennifer Hudson sounds okay singing "Easy To Be Hard" - but there's no need to make the song even slower than it already is. There's no need to hold every note out - we get it.
I'm completely disappointed with the recording - the Original Broadway Cast, Original German Cast, and the Original Off-Broadway cast are all superb - this recording is wretched, and that's sad, because I love so many of the performers and this is one of my favorite shows. Blah.
