I was there! Of course, I couldn't see much from my vantage point, but I did see Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, ooh, and Nikki Blonsky looked right at me!!

I know you. I know you. I know you.

Were the people singing behind, current Broadway ensemble members. Not the dancers, but the people who stood behind the cast and just sang.

Because one of them looked very much like one of the ensemble girls.

Marsden sounded pretty much like he does in the movie, although he came in a beat or two late right at the beginning of "Nicest Kids in Town" (did anyone else notice that?). He recovered really well, though.

I thought everyone else sounded a bit out of breath, but running around a stage will do that to a person.

I noticed some people in the ensemble who were from the Broadway production, but I'm not sure if they were all from the current cast. I did see Chester Gregory II in there. And it was funny to see Curtis Holbrook there this morning as I just had seen him like 9 hours earlier at Xanadu.

Go check out the Elephant Project pics on the other thread!

Lots of current and former stage cast members provided background/ensemble vocals

This is perhaps the best sendoff a musical has ever had. A wonderful co-mingling of great reviews, TV promotion, press coverage and actual performances of the stars.

Nikki Finke is predicting that the film will get creamed by Chuck and Larry with a low 20 million dollar weekend, but I hope and pray she's wrong.

No matter what, Hairspray will become one of the classics in the pantheon of musical comedy.

And we were all there...

Wow that was awful..the energy was great, but the sound quality was awful..Elijah was louder than most and you can tell Queen can never do a live show..she ran out of breath through most of the number...but I am so glad that the movie is here and that people are seeing it...LOVE IT
