Shannon Durig is a pretty huge star - just as big a star as Laura Benanti, Mano Felciano, and Barrett Foa. Why they all aren't starring in more movies is beyond me when they are such huge well known names.

Really? Why had I never heard that before? That seems odd, as generally they would even take OUT songs from the existing score due to time constraints. I only hope they're as good as the current songs...

Not odd at all. Songs written for the stage version won't be eligible for an Oscar! They have to write at least ONE new song.

Our talented Mr. Shaiman has yet to win the gold statue!... so I'm SURE there is an 11 o'clock, power ballad, "love theme," remix-friendly, cabaret-standard-in-the-making, wave-your-bic-in-the-air, solidarity anthem, catchy, chart-topping number or two up his highly creative sleeve.
