So, I was walking by a movie theatre on the east side of Manhattan today, and I noticed a pretty big (and funny) mistake on the marquee for Hairspray...look closely!

In case none of you knew, Penny was actually a man in drag, and Corny was a woman dressed like a man.

And, it's not like it's the movie theatre's mistake. It's printed on there like that!

Way to go New Line!!

That's hilarious. I would probably be laughing uncontrollably if I had spotted that =] haha.

I have seen that signage before and it wasn't written that way.

It could have been an error by one of the staffers assembling the decals.

Having worked at a movie theatre i can tell you that signes like that come fully assembled. All you have to do is put it up.

I think they realize the kind of eole that are normallly working at a movie theatre and try to make it as " idoit proof" as possible.

re: Hairspray Movie Marquee Screw Up

That's quite spectacular.

Though I'm sad to say that neither James Bynes nor Amanda Marsden has an IMDB or IBDB profile.

re: Hairspray Movie Marquee Screw Up

Marquee signage comes pre-made. Error was definitely made by the company handling New Line's Publicity. Kinda fvcked up Nikki Blonsky's name was also left out.
