When does this start to rehearse? I have 9 to 5 tickets for July 2nd, and I'm wondering if Diana will still be there?
Ew...Nick Jonas is going to BUTCHER all of Link Larkin's numbers. The Jonas Brothers absolutely cannot sing!

I have very mixed feelings about this cast. These days, Marissa is starting to get a little too old for the role. I really liked her in the role, but it's time to move on. Fierstein is still great for Edna. Darlene Love was great on Broadway, as was Diana. The casting of Tara really surprises me. Drew Carey is an interesting casting choice. I think he'll be pretty good (hopefully). John Stamos will be good as Corny. Nick Jonas is completely miscast. Corbin should be good as Seaweed. Mo Gaffney should be good, as well.

Yeah I have to agree, while there are many in this cast who will be good, Carey is the only casting choice that is exciting to me.
Yawn to the cast. And I seriously will never understand all the Diana DeGarmo love. She's horrible. Bad acting, annoying as hell voice. Ugh. I don't get it.

Diana and Corbin are going to make an awesome Penny and Seaweed. She was far and away my favorite Penny Pingleton, and I loved her as Doralee when I saw 9 to 5. I'm also excited to see Darlene Love and John Stamos in the cast. I personally would have preferred to see what Eric Stonestreet could do as Edna, but there's no doubt Harvey is a great choice to reprise his role.
I would think DeGarmo might miss the end of the 9 to 5 tour. It ends in August, right?
Nope it ends at the last stop in Ft. Worth, TX on July 31st. Seeing as the show is a week later it looks like she might have to leave early, but she could always come back for the final show?

Why is no one excited for Harvey? I mean, he hasn't overdone it like Carol Chaninng as Dolly or Adam and Anthony as Mark and Roger. He's perfect as Edna. Personally, I really think he deserved the part in the movie. I love Travolta, but that performance was God-awful.
People, it's a couple of nights at the Hollywood Bowl. With the exception of the handicapped (er, physically challenged?) who have a good section and the old patrons who have good seats and will have given the tickets to the kids or the help, everyone else will be half-a-block away from Marissa. Molly Picon could play the role at that distance.

I thought Diana Degarmo was fantastic as Penny when she did it in 2006/7 for two 6 month runs (split because she went on tour as Brooklin) I think she still knows that role inside out, and the key roles are also by Broadway vets so I'm not worried she is a trooper.
sniffffffffffffffff....
Does anyone else have doubts that casting a dominican actor, like Corbin Bleu, in the role of a black character would be believable?

That question was funny to me when I though he was black. Turns out his mom is Italian and his dad is Jamacian.

So he's bicracial, then? Why don't you just say flat out you don't think he's black enough?
Yeah, your question was hilarious.

If his mom is Italian and his dad is Jamaican, why did you say he was Dominican?

Originally he called him "Puerto Rican," but he changed it.
I also don't really get the Harvey love. I just don't get it.
I remember reading on this board people thought he was not right for the ITH role due to his ethnicity. (I think others might have thought him to be black as well.) I don't have a problem either way. I called him Dominican because Usnavi was.

"I also don't really get the Harvey love"
Because Harvey is perfection in the role...
"Molly Picon could play the role at that distance."
And this is the absolute truth about the Hollywood Bowl.
""I also don't really get the Harvey love."
That statement reveals that either you've never seen him play Edna live, or you have seriously questionable taste. You tell me.
Well, after seeing Michael Ball in the role, I obviously have high standards that Harvey's annoying-as-hell voice could never match.
You call them "high standards," I call them ...
EDIT: Because Edna Turnblad from Baltimore, MD, should have a good singing voice??? Oh, dear God in heaven ...
You tell me where I mentioned the word "singing" in my post.
