Don't worry it is NOT bootleg. It is brought to you courtesy of Canadian television:

It's the first video clip as of now.
The Toronto production is absolutely phenomenal, by the way. Their energy and enthusiasm threatens to blow off the roof of the Princess of Wales theatre.
If there are people in town and wanna organize a group trip, I'm in! I'm running out of people to take.

Umm sorry but I thought they all sound bad! Voices of the leads are very weak and sound just plain bad! Sorry...
great clip... definitely the best full cast song because of all the energy... too bad edna's not in it... i wanna see more of jay (forgot his last name) in the role! i live 2 hours away... i should so go see it... love the original ny cast!!
Vanessa wasn't all that bad, but I think I like Kerry's Penny the best (probably because I have heard the numerous cast recording numerous times). Anyways, maybe it was just too early in the morning?
yeah, kerry's is better... and from what i remember of jen, she was amazing too!!

Kerry and Jen are awsome--that Penny isn't.

I'm not really sure how you all can make judgements based on this clip. The quality is HORRIBLE.
I'm watching the clip now, too. They're much, much better onstage. Maybe it was the early morning.
Actually, the Toronto Penny (whose name I can't remember) has received a lot of praise and attention from the press. She steals the show at some moments, and there's talk of bringing her to Broadway.

eee. i didn't enjoy that very much. i didn't like the penny at all. i'm sure that they are better on stage though.
yeah, the quality is horrible, but the energy is still there... and most of them sounded pretty good
The quality on my video when I watch it is so bad you cant see their faces. LOL. Grrr..

I actually thought the cast sounded phenomenal! I was really impressed. Motormouth, Penny, and Seaweed all sounded great!

Yeah--I guess I shouldnt have judged her based on that clip. They all had a loooooot of energy and as an ensemble sounded awsome. Plus I thought Tracy and Motormouth were awsome. All in all awsome.
I wish they showed the guy who played Edna.

There is a clip of him somewhere.
i wasn't fond of tracy, penny, and motormouth's voices personally
Jennifer Stewart plays Penny in Toronto. Personally, I think she's great. (She used to be in Mamma Mia and moved over to a bigger role in Hairspray). I also thought Vanessa and Jay were fantastic. Toronto's production is worth seeing if anyone is in the area.

i saw a closer up picture of link, and he looks kind of old to play a sophmore. tracys good but too thin. I like motormouth mable. penny doesn't have enough "pop" in her voice if you know what i mean.
isnt tracy kinda tall? i dont like any of there voices. and i used to like the girl who plays tracy since she was on american idol

I guess Canadian televison directors don't have the ability to shoot a close up. How about we all chip in and buy them a second camera.
That was extremley unimpressive. Link was pathetic, most notably.
Most of the performers in the Toronto cast were AMAZING. Vanessa is a MUCH better singer than Marissa, although that clip may have not shown it. But i have to say I was sorely dissapointed with Toronto's Penny Pingleton, maybe because I am head over heals in love with Kerry Butler's rendition. Her singing voice didn't have the soul, nor did her acting have the comedic timing or intensities that I would have love. Frankly I can think of a few people I know who could have done a way better job at that role.
I also wish there were close-ups on that clip so you could see how OLD Michael Torontow (Link Larkin) is...and how much he sweats...hah...but I'm just bitter I didn't get that role (I auditioned for Hairspray Toronto)
I can't wait to see it again though and see what has improved since previews.

Really, you think so? I think Marissa is a much, much better singer (and overall a better Tracy). Vanessa has a nice voice, but you can tell she doesn't have the endurance for it; notice the heavy panting during "You Can't Stop the Beat", and sometimes she yells the notes out rather than sing them properly.
Love the rest of this cast, though.
I'm trying to get tickets for the week of September 6-12th, but for some reason the Mirvish website isn't selling those dates. Is the production taking a week off? That's unusual, I've never heard of that happening before.
