I didn't get an answer to my question but you guys made me laugh! Thanks very much - I am having a horrible day and you made me feel so much better. p.s. I don't have any tickets. Will have to wait until the summer or later.
I think the shots fired during the duels are pretty loud, and there are three duels. But you know those are coming, so you can prepare yourself. (I mean, it is a duel.) There's also cannon fire in the battle scenes (which are great), but I don't remember how loud those are. Plus, the Broadway run may be different!
Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate it! I am hard of hearing but those loud gunshots make me jump out of my seat. I can only imagine what they sound like with an infared device!
You should have pretty ample warning so you can take the device out of your ears in time. Isn't there any accommodation for a sudden loud sound? I don't know how the assistive devices work.
Barring any huge changes to those particular scenes, you will have plenty of warning to pop the listening device out (which I would definitely recommend because OUCH).

I saw it tonight - and wow, was it wonderful! As the other posters said, it could be changed for Broadway but, as it currently stands, you have plenty of warning each time (there are three duels that all end with a bang) but I was in the 5th row and I did not find it particularly loud at all. Get tickets asap - this one should not be missed!
