I was at Hamilton on Saturday night (!!!!!!!) and I remember the audience sang along for a part of a song - very clearly as a lot of people were singing. It wasn't You'll Be Back, although I had always thought if there was any part, it would be after King George says "Everybody!" Does anybody know what part that was? For the life of me I can't recall.
They were invited to sing along? Or just couldn't help themselves?

When we saw it, I had to stop my 12 year old son from singing along.

I'm not sure. It seemed like it started quickly, like all of a sudden a lot of people were singing. It had the feel of a tradition to me, but admittedly that was my first Broadway show I ever saw (in New York).

Besides the da da da part of King George i dont think any of hamilton is sing-along material
still, singing along in theatre is inapproriate I'd be mad if i hear someone singing when i see a musical
When King George gestures to "everybody" at the end of "You'll Be Back," in the theatre, it's directed to the colonial and royal ensemble members on stage. Not the audience.
Never. The. Audience.

Could it be that part near the end of My Shot where the cast goes whoa whoa whoa and John Laurens sort of invites people to sing?

I've seen the show twice, and both times the audience sang along with that part, and even more so when I saw it a couple weeks ago.
But I think the part OP is referring to is when Laurens says, "everybody sing," during My Shot, and they then sing the "whoa, whoa, whoa" part.

Following a Saturday Matinee a few weeks ago, outside the stage door, a large group of young women sang many selections from the show. That said, I don't recall anyone singing in the audience.

I don't recall any singing, either. But haven't been since Feb. I'd rather they didn't -- it doesn't seem like that type of show.

Has anyone in this thread actually seen Hamilton? FantasiaWHT is probably referring to the part in Yorktown when SPOILER Lafayette says "Moo with me!" END SPOILER It's directed at the audience; they're encouraged to join in. I've mooed each time. Lin has even said in interviews (and in the Hamiltome) that he was inspired by Jonathan Larson to add this in.

Okay, this made me laugh
Whoops, I misread OP's post. But it's okay because MyLife's post made me choke-laugh.
