She truly is the last of the living legends! I first saw her live on the opening night of BAJOUR in 1964, and I was so excited I nearly fell out of my first row balcony seat at the Shubert. 40 years later, as Board Chair, I had the honor of presenting her with a SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBTQ+ Elders) Lifetime Achievement Award.
She is the best! Many, many happy returns!

This is still a few months off but I wanted to mention that my bookstore is hosting an event with Chita in conversation with Harvey Fierstein in Poughkeepsie on April 30. And All That Jazz: A Celebration of the Legendary Chita Rivera

The event will feature Laura Benanti, Jason Danieley, George Dvorsky, Andy Karl, Nathan Lane, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bebe Neuwirth, Orfeh, Mary Beth Peil, John Riddle, Leslie Uggams, Betsy Wolfe, the American Pops Orchestra conducted by Luke Frazier and iconic dance numbers staged by Lloyd Culbreath.
