Was THIS the Xanadue-esque version everyone was talking about so much before? If so, I hate to say it, but it might be about ten-times better.

Years ago I had the most vivid dream of "Harry Potter - The Musical" complete with songs, sets, costumes, effects - it was spooky that I could come up with something like that while I was sleeping!
I still remember Harry's opening number "Underneath The Stairs (Where I Live)" and the scene where Hagrid breaks the news, "You're A Wizard, Harry Potter"!

This is actually more clever and funny than the majority of musicals that have opened on Broadway in the last few seasons.

Agreed. The score's better, too.

Another reason I'm sad I didn't go to Umich. Why do they always look like they're having more fun than me?

Though every song, save perhaps the song between Quirrel and Voldemort and the final song (Voldemort is Going Down), is UTTERLY FABULOUS AND FANTASMAGORICAL in every way/ shape/ form/ ideal, my favorite would have to be "Granger Danger". A duet between Ron and a female Malfoy... SO PERFECT! I'm also kindda suprised this plot point wasn't included in the novels... it's so good. Also, Malfoy basically having an orgasm with the floor every time he spoke during the fourth part... why isn't this on Broadway?

I also love the song Ginny sings (I don't want to guess at titles in case I'm ridiculously off) about Harry. This needs a recording!

I don't know, I loved the duet being Quirrell and Voldemort. That whole storyline cracks me up.
Clearly there are a whole mess of legal issues that would hold up any further development on this or a cast recording or whatever, but it's too good to let it be a one-time only thing.

I agree, anyone know a producer we can send this to?
I bet JKR would like it. It'd be okay to send her the video I think since they weren't making any money off of it.

I just love the idea of Zac Efron.
I especially found it hilarious when Ron and Hermione made out.

All they need to do is add the word "Parody" to the title and copyright it and they'll have no real issues with copyright- it worked for Silence of the Lambs!

Yeah, isn't that why Forbidden Broadway was able to run for all those years? Also, to clarify, I meant the reprise of the song after they had spent the night out. It seemed a little too awkward for a reprise. However, with very few minor problems, the show works better than most right now.

It's ok, I guess. I think I'm just sort of over the musical spoofs for a while, especially anything titled "_____: The Musical". It stopped being clever years ago. I do find it interesting how nobody is lamenting the loss of originality. I guess if you do yet another musical spoof or at least ridicule something popular, it must be ok. Anyway, it has its funny moments, though I didn't laugh as loudly or as often as the friends of the actors.

Thing is, though it's a parody, it keeps the heart of the piece. It's not just making fun of it for the sake of making fun of it, it's more of an homage.
And, yeah, I'd love a serious musical retelling, but that's going to be extremely difficult unless it's like the Ring Cycle or something.
