while i LOVE harry potter - the books, the movies, the characters, the story - it should never be made into a musical. it would take all credibility away from the franchise.

i can't believe no one has mentioned this.....
but the ideal casting for Harry Potter the musical, lovingly entitled, "Potter!," would be Bea Arthur as Hermione Granger. Inspired, to say the least.

I'd like to see the guys from Gutenberg:The Musical get together to pitch this one :) With all of these movies being turned into musicals (yeah, yeah, they were books too), we're overdue for a Forbidden Hollywood on Broadway edition anyway. Or maybe just the Naked Boys Singing cast performing Harry's bedside lament, "Me and my Wand"? Hrm... the lyrics are forming for taht one, I'd better sign off before I post them I'd hate to see this threat deleted!

Okay, on a realistic level, I think the best bet would be to make it *just* 'Harry Potter And The Philopher's Stone'. It works pretty well as a standalone, and you start at the beginning as opposed to being thrust straight into the middle. Condensing seven books into one show is about the most idiotic idea I could possibly conceive of.

Ooh, unless the Reduced Shakespeare Company wanted to have a go. Although it would then probably be the least dark adaptation of the books... XD

Good idea Weez, stick to one book. Im pretty sure within a few years we'll have some kind of spectacular along the lines of the 'Disney presents...' doing Harry Potter around the stadiums and arenas of the world.

I have to admit, someone those made me laugh out loud in total appreciation. My personal favorites are "Maybe This Time" for Sirius, "I Know Him So Well" for Ginny and Hermione, "My Junk" for the company, and "That's the Beat for Me" for Rita.
