I've seen numerous posts declaring Brooklyn trash, citing most prominently the poor reviews. But has anyone actually seen the musical since it opened on the 21st? If so, did you like it (from all the negativity, I'm guessing most didn't). And if you truly didn't like it, how come... what is so awful about it after having seen it?
there are threads on people's own personal reviews
if you do a search with "Brooklyn" as Subject, you'll find your answers...

I have posted on this, so go to my profile and you should find those entries...it's not pretty, but I had to be honest.
I saw it ON the opening night and I've said it on here many a times, I think I not only lost brain cells because of it but I may be forever emotionally damaged from having to sit through it.
BROOKLYN is amazing. See it, and "feel" it for yourself.
Good lord, Tiny Toon, you are becoming a giant, shilly, joke. Do you know any other word beside "amazing"?
i've seen Brooklyn.... from the bay windows of my downtown penthouse in Lower Manhattan. Nice borough!
i doubt you saw it opening night since it was invited guests only . Not people who clearly just want to smash the show. Besides Ave Q is 2 theatres away.. Updated On: 10/25/04 at 05:30 PM
Amneris, you little twit, they were freaking papering the opening night up until the very last minute. A friend of mine told me he asked if he could get seats at the last minute and he got a pair of comps to opening night. This was like at 4:30 PM on Thursday, a few hours before the horrendous show began.
Face it, your precious show sucks. I told you it sucked the day after I got shilled into seeing the disaster by you shilly lunatics, and it continues to suck to this very day.
Matt Rogers you can kiss my small ass. Trust me, it wasn't comped.. But, I won't bother to fight with a 50 year old "I have done nothing with my life" man.
Hey you two, cut it out! It's just a friggin play.
I'm 50? That's news to me. I haven't done anything with my life? More news to me. You should tell that to my accountant. He'll get a good laugh.
Since you've made such shallow assumptions, maybe I should assume that you are a 16 year old pimply hag who has never met a donut she didn't like, and that your buffalo butt is so big you can't wipe it and you have to buy two seats for any show you see, who thinks Miss Brittney Spears and Celine Dion are the modern masters of music and whose idea of a glamerous night on the town is a super size Big Mac Meal...but I won't stoop to your level.
True? Maybe. Maybe not. How would I know. I never met you (thank god), and never will (double thank God.)
Moral of this story...don't assume. It just makes you look stupider than you already look by shilling about Brooklyn all day and all night.
I was at the box office opening night and people were buying tickets for that performance.

Matt Rogers, You officially win for making me laugh so hard that I cried!!! DAMN YOU KNOW ME LIKE A BOOK!!!!
P.S.
Matt, I don't think you are a very nice person by making fun of the overweight community. You should be ashamed of yourself.

As a matter of fact, I WAS at opening night. I bought my ticket that morning, I will gladly scan it and post it for you all to see if no one wants to believe me. I was orchestra, left hand side, row Q, seat 25.
EDIT: Actually, invited audience or not, trust me, I've gotten into more opening nights than Brooklyn and there are any number of people on this board who can vouch for that. Just because it's opening night doesn't mean people don't get in.
i believe TKTS was selling tickets for opening night...

Amneris dear, check your facts. Not only was opening night being papered, they also put tickets on sale at the box office. I was there, a friend of mine WORKED the opening night, and not that we have to validate ourselves to you, we can both attest to bythesword's attendance.

Trust me.... the only ones who got in for opening night was invited guests. Maybe you are talking about opening night of previews?
That's wonderful I'm glad you were in attendance of opening night. I can die happy now.
That's not true. I promise you I was there. If you don't believe me then you're just wrong. Like I said, I will scan my ticket if you want. I got in. I got in with 3 other people but we were all in different areas of the theater because they didn't have 4 together. I've learned you can always get tickets to opening night if you're persistant enough. I'll list ALL the opening nights I've been to. If you go to the BO often enough or on the day of the show and ask, they WILL eventually give you tickets.
JPB, I think I trust they know what they are talking about. I doubt these people are lying they were at this shows opening night, or know the show was selling tickets opening night. I think they know difference between OPENING NIGHT and the first night for previews.
I do apologize..i "checked" my facts and indeed the shuberts took a BUNCH of tickets for themselves as usual.. and released about 50 to make money.

JPB, you're incredibly mistaken. I think I've worked in this business long enough to know the difference between opening night and opening night of previews.
And *gasp* Christine and I were also both at Laugh Whore's opening last night.... Granted I was working, but still.
Don't just make assumptions and act like you know it all.... typically you'll just make yourself look stupid.
And thank you Amneris.
