For me, it was when I joined the cast of The Wedding Singer as they proclaimed, "BANG YOUR HEAD!" and singing along to the final verse of the finale. I also take pride in the fact that I said, quite audibly, such phrases as "Oh no he di'nt!" during The Color Purple and joining in with, "And your father smelled of elderberries" during Spamalot.
Anyone else done something they're not ashamed of.
Believe it or not, I actually sat through all of Tarzan. I know most people would have left during half-time, but I sat through it. I am so ashamed, but I feel good I can share it here.

I said UNashamed!
If we are unashamed of it, is it really something we have to write down in a thread? Interesting choice of topic, I just don't think it is necessary...
Haha. Rent, Maureen's preformance. I was in the 2nd row and stood up and shouted "MOO!" as loud as I could. The theater was silent until everybody else realised that they were supposed to moo as well. Personally, I'm very proud of that moment, even though my mother (who had to sit next to me) wasn't.

You actually said those things aloud during a performance so that others could hear? That's only a few steps down from singing along with the cast.
ETA: In rereading your post, I see you did sing along with the cast. Oh good. I really hope it's part of the show, otherwise, you're just really rude.
I know most people would have left during half-time
If you've ever referred to intermission as "half-time" at the theatre then you have another strong candidate for an answer to the original question.

Maybe we should start an audience etiquette thread.
I was really unashamed when I sat through a show quietly, laughed when it was funny and clapped at appropriate times.

Hey look at that! Mattbrain, I suggest you read those.
During the SF tryouts of BARBARY COAST, a musical about the SF earthquake, I commented to my boyfriend at intermission that this thing had so much scenery that it was lacking the Transamerica tower to feel complete. After enduring (and yes, that's the right word) we *finally* got to the finale, when the chorus stads amidst the ruins and sings (and I kid you not, folks) "Love is like a day in spring/Love makes you do strange thing" -- and out of the flies here comes the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Bank of America Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, and -- of course -- the Transamerica Tower.
I couldnt stop laughing loudly enough. To make it worse, this woman in the row before us turns around says, in a terribly haughty voice, "Young man, I dont see what you find so funny. This is uplifting family entertainment." -- which of course made it all the funnier. While everyone was applauding the cast, I was barreling out of the theatre, laughing my head off.
God, what an abysmal show.....

I stood up at the end of RENT and screamed "That bitch should be dead!"
BSo, fortunately that isn't necessary any longer since Matt Caplan is gone.

Nice, BSo.

Patronus - have you SEEN Tarzan? That's not theatre...that's an event. Therefore, the term "half-time" most certainly applies.

I sat like a good person and watched and listened as I should and was quiet?
Patronus - have you SEEN Tarzan?
I most certainly HAVE NOT! Not my cup of tea in the least.

Why does everyone on this board hate me?!

I don't hate you. I hate your behavior.
Patronus, you would have to see to know what I'm talking about. The only thing I can equate the experience to is watching a public swimming pool for hours. Nothing but people jumping and screaming and loud screams and shrills.
There was a lot more going on of course. I was so polarized by that day-glo green box, I may have missed the other atrocities that usually make up a musical.

MattBrain. We don't hate you, we don't even know you. I, for one, just don't appreciate that you said those sort of things during a show.
Although there are some exceptions. kudos to BSoBW2. My thoughts exactly.
Patronus - you are very wise. I got the $20 student lottery front row ticket. It wasn't worth it. The show was worth $15. And it was only worth seeing for the technical aspects (aka the spectacle).
I don't hate you, I would just be annoyed as all heck if someone yelled "oh no he didn't" during a live theatrical presentation and was actually proud they did. That is pure disrespect and ignorance on so many levels.
I would be unashamed to call the usher on such a menace.

Ok, folks, here's the deal.
Color Purple: everyone else was doin' it...I think.
Wedding Singer: We had done "It's Your Wedding Day" at camp and when we were exiting at the end of the number, we all turned to the audience and yelled, "BANG YOUR HEAD!"
Spamalot: I'm just a Monty Python geek.
Besides, I didn't intend to do all of that stuff. It was entirely spur of the moment.
I lie. The bang your head thing was planned. The rest: no. And if you're wondering what I mean by everyone hating me, I'm gonna put up some of the links from some of my other threads on the off-topic board. Y'all can check it out.
I certainly don't hate you, but it you behaved that way while sitting near me in a theatre I would be unashamed to get the house manager and ask that you be removed.
