Have you ever found your perfect song?

Have you ever found that song that is just absolutely perfect for your voice and range and you have so much fun singing? I think I found mine with A Change in Me from Beauty and the Beast... I try and record myself when I practice to go back and fix thing I don't like and I never usually enjoy my own voice, but on that song I just love the way it sounds. I'm so excited about it! Have you found anything like that for you?
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

"Far From the Home I Love" from Fiddler on the Roof seems to fit my voice perfectly (and it's become one of my favorite songs to use in auditions).

re: Have you ever found your perfect song?

I've yet to, it would have been very useful for today. But I think I have some sort of marginal hope if the director decides to go on heavy acting, decent singing ability. Some girl sung Popular and turned the Wizard and I into a monolgue. Some guy got up and attempted to do Over the Moon for his comtemporary monologue and sang TMOLM. I seriously thought the stage was going to go crashing down. And I have finally figured out why my school has never done musicals. I'm still searching for my song, but I attempted to tear up the The Life of the Party earlier today. Sorry for the thread jack but I just had to share my unfortunate experience with someone.

"Pity the Child" from Chess

Wrong gender, yes, but it is one the few song I will say that I can sing the hell out of.

"The Story Goes on" from Baby, out of context.
"The Kid Inside" from Is There Life After Highschool?
"It Took Me a While" from John and Jen
"Why" from Tick..Tick...Boom
"Old Red Hills of Home" from Parade
"Johanna" from Sweeney Todd
"Being Alive" from Company
"Santa Fe" from the newsies
"The Impossible Dream" from Man of LaMancha
"I'd Rather Be Sailing" from A New Brain
and
"Meditation II" from Shanendoah
I adore singing every one of these songs. There is something special when you are performing a song you adore. It is so indescribable.

Haven't found the *perfect* one yet, but if I had to pick, I'd say "What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line.

I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

re: Have you ever found your perfect song?

The Girl in 14G- because I can show off my coloratura/opera voice, jazz voice, and musical theatre voice all in one song, and it has great acting opportunities.

Always True To You from Kiss Me Kate one of my favorite shows.. shows off my love to belt and ingenue (did i spell that right?) side.

I also love to sing "As Long As He Needs Me".. cause I'm pleased with that a lot.

I'm also quite fond of the way I perform "I Know The Truth" but, ask me anything else and I'd probably put myself down.

re: Have you ever found your perfect song?

Haven't found the perfect song yet but some that I like and show off my voice are:

"What I Did For Love" A Chorus Line
"As Long As He Needs Me" Oliver (key of C..I also have an alto version that I can sing but uhh...it's harder lol)
"Your Daddy's Son" Ragtime (except I don't know WHEN I'd ever use this...but it's as close to perfect for showing off my voice as I've found so far)
"Girl in 14G" is great fun as well, I may be doing that one at my next concert.

re: Have you ever found your perfect song?

"I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady is just perfect...I always want to sing something new for auditions, but I end up deciding to sing that instead every single time.

"Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" isn't bad either, I hate to say.

My perfect songs are "Think of me" from Phantom, and "Home" from Beauty and the Beast.

I've just recently discovered how great "Unexpected Song." I've know it for a long time, but I just recently realized how perfect it is for my voice. Quite "unexpected" =) How Ironic

re: Have you ever found your perfect song?

"The Night They Invented Champagne"-Gigi. I'm starting it with my voice teacher in about two weeks (preparing for my uber-importnat audition) and it fits really well in my range and it's just really good for my voice.

"Vanilla Ice Cream" from She Loves Me. But I haven't done it in a while because it's so overdone.
