Posted: 4/9/09 at 9:18amI saw Sarah as Fiona and was a little let down. I guess after you see Sutton, she sets the bar pretty high. I am DYING to see Haven. I love the way she sings.

While I like Sutton (absolutely fell in love with her in Millie) I, too, feel she is the same in every show I see her in...all presence and little substance. Yes, I can still be entertained by her, but would really like to see some variety.
I am bringing my kids to see this on the 21st or 22nd -- have to admit: I don't really care who is on for Fiona...I'm sure my kids will be happy no matter what.

I've seen the show once and Sarah was on for Fiona. She did a good job. I didn't miss Sutton really, because like dramamama, I like Sutton, but she's the same in everything I see her it. Fantastic dancer, though, I will say.
I'd love to see Haven as Fiona...I just wish she was next weekend instead of this weekend. I'm visiting my folks in NJ - and they are a stone's throw from NYC, which makes seeing a show during my visit a definite possibility.

Posted: 4/9/09 at 9:47amI went to see Sarah Jane as Fiona yesterday (planned on it since I knew she was going on) and I enjoyed the show much more the second time with Sarah Jane. She's awesome!

Posted: 4/9/09 at 7:35pmI have very little luck seeing Sutton. Did see her in "Drowsy," but got her understudy in "Young Frankenstein" and also saw Haven in the Sunday night performance of "Shrek." I enjoyed the show as a whole and felt Haven was a wonderful Fiona.

To all the people saying she always acts the same...
I saw her as Inga and found her dull and tired. Loved her as Fiona and found her to be the total opposite.

I saw Haven yesterday.
Her performance was very similar to Sutton's, however her energy and 'effort' seemed to be a lot better.

Saw Haven at yesterday's matinee. Loved her performance - she sadly didn't have the star presence that Sutton has, and her portrayl wasn't as nuanced and personal as Sutton (not really anyones fault considering she has only had a handful of chances to perform the role) but she was hilarious, and sang Morning Person phenonemenally. Her only riff was on the last "good morning" in Morning Person - not too distracting. Also loved how she belted parts of the show Sutton sings in head voice.
A note on seating - do not under any circumstances pay full price for the first 4 seats on either side of rows A-D. They are seriously resticted view, and not at all worth the $126 they are sold at. I got them for $36 via the student rush, but that is all they are really worth.

I was at today's matinee (Sunday 4/12) and Haven was on. I am a big fan of hers. From Maureen, to Elle and Margot and adore her Gingy. Her riffing in "Donkey Pot Pie" was a highlight for me.
Her Fiona was good, but not remarkable. She lacked the presence and assurance of the character. She sounded great, but there was only one riff. I would say just an average performance. I wanted so much more from her. Her tapping was good, she has improved from her Legally Blonde days.
There must have been a lot of female cast members out because there were only 2 dragonettes and no sugar plum fairy.
Just my opinion!

I saw the understudy board around 5:30 ish on Saturday night. It did say that Haven was on for that afternoon performance and I knew that if she was going to be on for one then I was assuming that she was going to be going on that night. And, I was right. I was in row C I believe (not 100 per cent sure off hand) and I was on the far right. I had seen the show before but I did pay student rush price for those seats. Not sure how I would have felt sitting there if I were using a discount code or paying full price. Last two times I saw it was via TKTS. One of those times was partial view, but from where I was sitting unlike Saturday night, I wouldn't have agreed that I was sitting in a partial view seat.
As for Haven as Fiona. Let me just say that I easilly had a chance to see her as Elle in Legally Blonde but I didn't. Had I known that she was going on beforehand I would have been there with bells on considering that I am a big fan of hers. I was lucky that I was in the city Saturday night because I had wanted to see her Fiona at somepoint and dind't know if/when the next chance would be. So, I was glad that I was in the city this time around.
I loved her performance as Fiona. It was a nice change from seeing Sutton play the role. As for Sutton, I am on the fence aobut the whole "Sutton plays the same role regardless of the show" thing. But, It was clear that Haven was having fun with it and really got into the role. Someone was saying that she flubed a line or two when she was last on a couple of days ago but that didn't happen Saturday night. It was clear that she was having fun with her dance in Morning Person and she did a great job of showing off her soprano in that song when she kills the bird. There was not really a flub rather her rewording a line. When she is talking to Donkey about being an ogre she said " who can love a beast that is so hedious and ugly." Rather then who can love a hedious ugly best. It was no biggie.
I tried to wait for her at the stgage door. But, as I was waiting there were three people there who introduced themselves to Seiber sp? as Haven's parents and her brother. Considering that she was taking a well deserved amount of time with them and I had to catch a train, I left.
As for Donkey Pot Pie. I am not sure that there were people missing. But, from where I was sitting the tail of the dragon was pretty cut off so it was hard for me to tell if there were people missing or not. I assumed not because the tail did move as if there were more people there and I just assumed that I had trouble seeing it due to being in an extreme partial view seat.

Posted: 4/13/09 at 11:41amHeather Jane had to cover both Gingy (Haven) and Mama Bear (Aymee Garcia) this entire weekend because they were short a girl. By Sunday night they were able to have another guy split both tracks with Heather.

I found it quiet amusing (and very well done) seeing Heather Jane do Gingy and Mama Bear. It was a like a psychotic switch. She totally changed her voice characters perfectly and was fun to watch her go from one character to the next in 2 seconds. Very well done.
There were only 2 dragonettes (singing) and not many on the tale. They handled it well!

Posted: 4/13/09 at 12:40pmHaven and Aymee are two of the three main female ensemble (them and Rachel Stern), so I was very pleased that Heather Jane handled it so well. Sunday night after she did the Gingy solo in Freak Flag, she added the ad-lib, "you tell 'em mama," which was a perfect transition.

Posted: 4/13/09 at 2:19pmI love Sutton but since Millie she has taken on roles that could be played well by any understudy. Sutton seems to get picked for roles in these high profile musicals that allow any charm she has to be swallowed up. Sutton needs to look for some smaller parts in less technical shows that focus on her simplicity and that gorgeous voice. These big musicals arent looking for personalities, they are looking for actors to be cogs in a theme park show. Im still sad about Faith Prince in TLM. She is worthy of so much better.

Posted: 8/27/09 at 12:03amI saw her this evening. She was fantastic. The show is still pretty awful, but she made her scenes enjoyable. Much more presence, spunk, and style than Sutton. And her voice...outstanding. Fantastic performance. She really should be originating leading roles, not understudying them.

Posted: 8/27/09 at 12:04amMaybe she should understudy Erin DIlly for her next show.
