As Darren Criss is getting settled into Hedwig, who do we think will play Hedwig next?

There are tickets on sale until August 9, but Darren is only scheduled until July 19. I wonder if he has extended or someone new will come in.

My friend said someone backstage mentioned Robert Morse.

David Hasselhoff.

Jordan, Dunham would do it in a heartbeat if they asked her, if only for a week or one night only benefit. (Wasn't the Belasco where Adam's revival of Major Barbara played?)
It's only a matter of time before she takes a stab at Broadway.

And I'm sure it would be.

Me too yknot. I hope they bring Lena in for 3 weeks post Darren and then end August 9, she could sell well for that short time. Then bring in another name in the fall starting August 12.

I'm surprised the PC Internet Police haven't made a huge deal about how only white men have played the role so far and how it should be a black transsexual woman now because it's only fair.

I'll ignore the rest of your ****-stirring for now, but you know Darren Criss is half Filipino, right?

I'd love to see Alan Cumming come in for a bit. Lena Hall would also be a spectacular choice.

Bruce Jenner. Oh wait, the breakdown says "male".

Lena would be "spectacular" in that it would be a spectacle. Still, Hedwig may be the only character who talks about herself as much as Lena does.

I'm assuming you're referring to Dunham? Lena Hall is gracious, classy, and humble, and would make an incredible Hedwig. I'm sure they'd figure something out for the tiny problem of the end costume.

Oh sorry did I mix up Lenas? I love Lena Hall.

Jane2 mentioned that a woman has played Hedwig before.
I can't recall who. I'm thinking Ally Sheedy, but that can't be right....
Anyway, a famous actress has played the role before so it can be done.
ETA: It was Ally Sheedy, Off-Broadway.

Would love to see Christoph Waltz give Hedwig a shot.

The perfect compliment to Dunham's Hedwig would be Allison William as Marnie playing Yitzhak.
You know Lena would parade around the stage naked at the end too. It would certainly be something!

I don't think Lena D would wait around til the end to challenge our culture's perceptions of beauty, do you?

You're right. She'd probably descend in that harness buck ass naked and perform Tear Me Down completely bare. Then, maybe, she'd get in costume and proceed to slowly undress until the finale.

Rip Taylor as Hedwig/Carol Channing as Yitzhak.
