I can't see them bringing back MCH seeing that he already had a very long run and filled in for a week for JCM. My best guess would be Andrew Rannells.... But Maybe just maybe Neil will come back but I don't see it happening.

I liked AR very much as Hedwig but I don't think ticket sales were through the roof. I think the creators/producers will try to get another big name in there after Criss. Just a guess.
"How about Christian Borle?"
I never considered him but I think he'd really be fantastic. Sadly, I don't think he'd be available come August.

""Jane2 mentioned that a woman has played Hedwig before.
I can't recall who. I'm thinking Ally Sheedy, but that can't be right....
Anyway, a famous actress has played the role before so it can be done.
ETA: It was Ally Sheedy, Off-Broadway."
It was Ally Sheedy. I never saw her but heard she was terrible. "
I saw Ally Sheedy play Hedwig at Jane Street. Horrible. Dull. Never once did I think I was seeing a man with a botched sex change on stage. I believe she was the last Hedwig to play before it announced the closing and then JCM came back for one week of performances to close the show officially.
Namo was being a smartass about John McMartin, but I've been imagining him speak-singing "Tear Me Down" and I want it bad.

I was being smart, if you ask me.
John McMartin doing Hedwig like a poetry slam type thing would be the best thing I've ever seen a human being do.
If we'd had this idea a couple years ago, Stritch could have been his Yitzhak. Now who?

Nope. Matt McGrath took the role for a few months after Ally Sheedy (thanks god).

Who knows what Elaine Stritch could have brought to the stage with her interpretation?...
Would be funny if Taye did the role, a quick comeback after Hurt Locker: the Musical.
If they ever decided to cast a woman and she was willing/available, I'd say Amanda Palmer would be outstanding.

they'll maintain the austro-german accent, but the script will be changed, instead of a botched sex change operation, her "angry inch" will be the result of years of steroid abuse.
I'd love Amanda Palmer. But she is pregnant currently.
I had heard Taye Diggs as well. Which is interesting. Could he sing it?
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about Alan Cumming!
Lena Hall never occurred to me as an option. I'd certainly be seeing that though.

I'd love to see Jared Leto make his Broadway debut in this.

Jared leto would be interesting. How about miss Rachel berry herself? She ,by her own admission can do anything. this certainly would be more interesting than her as fanny brice. She has the attitude .

I'd love to see Mika (the British pop singer) or Nate Ruess of the band Fun!
I think Joshua Henry could be really amazing too!
