If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
"Jane2 mentioned that a woman has played Hedwig before. I can't recall who. I'm thinking Ally Sheedy, but that can't be right.... Anyway, a famous actress has played the role before so it can be done.
ETA: It was Ally Sheedy, Off-Broadway."
It was Ally Sheedy. I never saw her but heard she was terrible.
""Would love to see Christoph Waltz give Hedwig a shot."
That is an inspired choice. I don't know if he can sing? If he can .... wow, he would be quite interesting. And he doesn't have to work on the German/Austro-Hungarian accent lol. I would love to see him in a play on Broadway - he is one of my very favorite actors.
Outside-the-box idea I think would be surprisingly good: Jack Black
Inside-the-box idea that I'm sort of surprised no one has suggested: Gerard Way
Bad idea that I kind of want to see anyway: Ty Burrell (who, far as I know, can't sing, but has an extremely Hedwig sense of comic timing and vocal phrasing)
They should be announcing the next Hedwig soon, no? I feel as though Darren was announced early in Johns run. Anyone have the scoop?? Very eager to hear who they get!
Maybe Ceveris would come back once his contract with Fun Home is up. And I can still dream of Alan Cumming in the role, right? Because that would be practically metatheatrical.
To me, being a "second generation" (maybe third?) Hedwig fan, I feel like the whole idea is to have a woman play Yitzhak and a man play Hedwig. Pink would be phenomenal, but I feel like the gender change would throw me off.
"darrens going to extend to August and then they have another person coming in for about 10 weeks."
sort of. There might be a small gap between Criss and the new Hedwig coming in for the Fall. We might possibly see Michael C. Hall or Rannells return for a few weeks. Or they could try and get Criss to extend [again].
