Hedwig's Final Day on Broadway

I've been getting a little teary looking at fans' tributes to the show all over social media today.

Any memories anyone would like to share of this production? Anyone going to this afternoon's show?

My sentimentality of this closing was shuttered a bit earlier this week when I realized that they were actually going to let Taye close this thing without a return of a more favorable Hedwig. Oh well.

YOU should have done it, Greased. YOU should have been Hedwig.

Oh well, greased. I get your point but the showay as well just end quietly. Let it just ghost us.

Jane, why didn't you apply for a stage manager job for this revival? Could have been an epic reunion.

Hedwig's Final Day on Broadway

I love this show. I've loved this show for almost 20 years, which is longer than I've loved most things, but I'm ok with it closing. (I admit I've been tearing up a bit today, looking at all the pics) I never in a million years thought it would come to Broadway or that JCM would step back into those heels. I am so grateful I got to see JCM again. I feel like I was given a gift.

But I question some of the casting choices... And for me, I have closure. Ack... It's like a break up... Cause I guess I'm not just a fan of Hedwig. I'm a fan of JCM as Hedwig. No one else comes close for me.

I'm currently in the line for the show! The first time I saw the show with Neil I didn't quite love it but when I saw it with michael I fell in love and returned two times when John was in the run. The second time I saw John I got a front row seat and he kissed me and I was on cloud nine. After he kissed me he asked if it was legal, and I told him I was 18 and that it was fine. And then at the show when he saw me crying, the look he gave me was the sweetest thing ever. Great memory :) Also sorry the other fans got a bad rep

Good run, lots of great times. JCM returning was everything. Not there this afternoon, but am going to the Tits gig tonight to send it off...

Well, they got a bad rep on here, not in reality or anything. Hedwig's Final Day on Broadway

Curious, when did this look get removed from the show? Did NPH do it for his entire run? Don't recall seeing any of the subsequent ones wearing it...

I don't even remember NPH wearing that when I saw him in the later half of his run (I saw him in late July). Maybe it was just for a special performance?

I saw one of the first previews (maybe THE first?!), but don't recall it. Then again, I was taking the whole new show in, so it may not have made that deep an impression... just a curtain call look?

I just saw a Periscope that looks like after Rebecca Naomi Jones makes her way down the orchestra for the finale, she was followed by Shannon Conley and then presumably LENA HALL! Can anyone confirm?

Namo, you should watch the Periscope if only to see the chat as it is running on the left of the screen. It's a bit over the top, heh. Hedwig's Final Day on Broadway

Today was my first Taye, and I thought he had some great moments and gave a very good performance. Most of the kinks have been worked out, he was funny as hell, and it was interesting seeing what he did with the role. I'm at peace with him closing it out.

Lena, Shannon, Darren, and NPH came onstage after Yitzhak enters in drag during MR. Then after some curtain call speeches, everyone involved in the show came onstage & Trask led a Wig in a Box sing along. It was a joyous, exuberant send off to a special show.

Why twice? Come up from Florida, I'd think you'd want to see multiple shows, no?

Because they won the lotto once. It's too expensive if we both go. Her daughter has enough room to put her up. When I go it's rental cars and hotels, and extra ticket money, and me not working. I Got to see Fun Home this year and OTTC. She needed to see Alfie too, she was happy with him but she said she was happy when Fantine died.

My best memories are honestly the people I met. I got something so different out of each show.

For me, seeing John will always be the highlight. Michael was a dream and I honestly think he was the best. Darren shocked me with how much I liked him.

After I saw the show each new time, I learned something about myself, and that's what theatre is about, IMO.

Thank you for being a bitter asshole for no good reason. I'm gonna go rock out to Tits of Clay with my Hedheads and have a great night.
