Now that Xanadu is closing, what's up next for the Helen Hayes?

Wow. Vultures.
It's not even October yet.... but please, continue to dance on the grave.
THE VISIT, THE VISIT, and THE VISIT.
The much anticipated revival of 'Go Tu Go Disco'
I wonder how much pressure the new owners of the theatre were putting on the Xanadu creative team to vacate the premises.
They have a planned name change and I remember it being reported that they were happy to wait but what if that was just smoke?
Eris0303 is producing a stage version of GREASE 2 to be directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, starring James Barbour as Danny.
Nothing I hope! What does it matter anyway? It will soon be a not-for-profit theater. Since the HH will be gone I hope it will be known forever that the last show to play there was XANADU.
Okay, not to be a bitch/ no-it-all but James would be playing Michael BUT luckily Kerry got cast as Stephanie so she does not have to leave.
"Cool RIder" is going to be so awesome.
I don't buy the name change, did The Virgina get changed to the August Wilson while Jersey Boys was there?
What ridiculous name are they gonna use for this theatre?
What ever it will be it will be an insult to take this wonderful name away from a Broadway theatre for the second time.

Thanks for the heads-up jeffrey1dog - looks like it will be dark for at least a year...sigh.

Since Second Stage is taking over the theater, don't be suprised if Next To Normal in the next production in the renamed Helen Hayes.
somuchtodo, thanks for posting the article. I had planned to do a search for it during my lunch hour.
I had mis-remembered the part about the name change. The article states that it's "likely". I thought the name change was 100% for sure. Though I wouldn't be overly shocked if it happened.

I suggest a revival of Xanadu with Kerry Butler, Cheyenne Jackson, Tony Roberts, Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman. To begin performances on October 14th, 2008 and to run longer than the current revival of Chicago.
Ohh I love the idea of The Visit!
VISIT popped into my head too.
I remember Mark Nadler's show, Russian on the Side, wanted to come to Broadway in the Helen Hayes...

haha I second WithoutATrace in saying that I love you theatredude
in all seriousness though, THE VISIT would fit nicely into that theater...
If I remember correctly since it is now going to be a non-profit venue, and Second Stages is it, then I don't think we will see some big type shows there in the future. If I remember an article recently said that Second Stages plans to bring in their own shows, and it sounded like low-key type shows. Nothing to big that Broadway would be use to.
So much love today! Thanks y'all. haha.
Seriously, I just found out about the show closing 12 hours ago. Let's not worry about what will be in that theater until the show actually closes.
What about NERDS? Wasn't that aiming for a Fall Broadway bow?
