Yes, I am aware of that, but Roundabout owns five stages in midtown, with 3 on Broadway, allowing it to have flexibility in mixing rentals and programming; Second Stage has 2 in midtown, one of which is off-Broadway.
Second Stage has explicitly stated the purpose of its Broadway house is to provide a space to develop and stage works by living American writers.
I never said they couldn't or were unable to rent it out. I just don't think they will choose to, particularly not so soon after opening their doors and especially when they have seasonal programming.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Does Amy Morton's Glengarry Glen Ross have a house announced yet? Yes sure David Mamet is not an "up and coming" American writer, but neither was Harvey. I wonder if they'll move up the production to open this season (it's currently announced for May 2019 I believe).

Here's the deal: they're broke. Yes they would obviously prefer a tenant with a living American playwright in tow, but if they don't have a choice, they are going to rent to someone because otherwise there may be no money to fund ANY programming. What would you do?
Agreed. They need $. They don't have the successes of the other non-profits. They'd be smart to house something that might be long term and get the rent $.
Love to see Usual Girls come in here. It’s the only Broadway house it would work in - although a CITS production would be interesting. Roundabout really hasn’t had any good buzz about therir shows since She Loves Me till this one. And it fits the Ethos of New American Play. It would get some good pub for them and 2ST. Selling out a 66 seat theater at $25 doesn’t necessarily scale to Broadway though. With the show closing December 23 it would be ripe for a quick transfer. Fingers crossed.
