oh my god i completely forgot about Lucky Stiff! now THAT was obscure. i kind of liked the movie version (i'm a fan of the original cast recording) especially the fact that it got to the point and it wasn't that long. Another low-budget movie musical I'd love to see is Urinetown. Film it in some gutter somewhere!
So, Audra is the 5,197th most popular actor on IMDB?

I liked Lucky Stiff fine--better than all the critics' reviews I've seen, but it's a bit exhausting and loses a lot of the charm I remember seeing on stage.
I've always imagined a low budget remake of LITTLE SHOP shot in my broke-down hometown. Maybe in Black n White to emulate the original film.
Any word on this? IMDB has no release date.
I love the concept behind this show and would love to experience it for the first time in a film. In my humble opinion, more indie musical movies should be made...as long as they're done with respect for the source material and general celluloid quality!

On FB, LaChiusa implied it would be out at film fests etc early 2017. That was a few months back...
I just stumbled upon the IMDB page for this which looks fairly complete. The cast list is interesting. It looks like the role of the Whore and the Senator are being gender reversed, which I'm not sure really will work, but its I suppose a way to make the material more inclusive.

Ha! I had the EXACT same thought/reaction!!!
Here is a website with a few more images from the shoot (as well as a few images that I believe are from other movies but suggest the mood of this movie). The photos from the filming process look very stylish and handsome. This filmed a year ago so I would think would surface somewhere soon...

Bumping this to see if there is any new information!
Isn't it interesting how "less mainstream" musicals have been finding their way into indie cinema recently? Last Five Years, Lucky Stiff, and now Hello Again?
Did I read that BroadwayCon will be screening a preview of this, or did I dream that?

No mention of "Hello Again" on Box Office Mojo's List of 2017 Releases ( confirmed or to be determined) --

I read on Playbill.com that they did indeed preview a five minute clip at BroadwayCon and that they're hoping to premiere the movie at a festival soon. Did anyone on these boards see it?

Looks like is going to have its premiere in May or June at the Toronto LGBT Film Festival.
Some more specific information...plus a sexy photo of Audra and Martha Plimpton...

I couldn't find the specific thread about the Audra McDonald 'Beyond the Moon' single being released for this film, but regardless, it can be heard here: http://www.playbill.com/article/listen-to-audra-mcdonald-transform-into-a-pop-diva-in-this-exclusive-track-from-the-hello-again-film

I saw the 5 minute preview at BroadwayCon and it was awesome. When the screen went black, I turned to my friend and both of our mouths were open and our eyes were huge. I don't know if it was because I wasn't expecting it or what...but it definitely looked amazing.

Thank you, Bloomerific!
EW just released a video sneak peak of Beyond the Moon. It's....interesting. I wonder who edited it. Link below:

The Last Five Years: Barely released and a total bomb.
Lucky Stiff: Barely released and a total bomb.
Forever Plaid: Barely released and a total bomb.
Yeah, I'd put money into a film version of Hello Again.

I don't know if it will "bomb" per se....if it's touted as an indie film, which it seems to be based on film festival stuff...I think it could hit a niche. Of course it won't make millions at the regular cinemas. The trailer was super fast-paced, color-rich, pretty rad. But again, no matter how you look at it, we are all kind of a niche group, ya know? I can see it winning an award here or there. I'm really excited to see the entire film.
What the hell was that??? I actually very much like the (original) HELLO, AGAIN score but this bizarre-o disco treatment suitable for the next Atlantis Gay Cruise headliner show is NOT the demo the folks producing HELLO AGAIN need to zero in on. (And look, I'd love to see Audra on my next Atlantis cruise but that's not the point.)
And who the hell thought Audra's voice could ever benefit from extreme auto-tuning?? Yikes.
